Not sure why this popped into my head.

Why don't you see Command & Conquer type games any more? I used to have days of fun playing these when I was younger.

I never knew such a game existed. Looks OK.

Anyone remember Total Annihilation?

They never really went away, just that computer game marketing was never truly massive, on the scale of movies etc, but Call of Duty and the like made computer games into movies and they got all the advertising limelight.

Strategy games peaked with command and conquer, but there are always a few good gems, Supreme Commander, StarCraft 1 and 2, Ground control 1 and 2 and sins of a solar empire.

The great story based campaigns died a death which is a shame as I love a good movie in a game like the old C&C FMV's or StarCraft cutscenes.

I am currently enjoying starcraft 2 heart of the swarm, but as I am entering a warhammer national painting competiton in September my time is limited.

I am aware the level of geek in that statement!

I never played Starcraft, but always enjoyed C&C. I was watching a few of the Dreamhack matches on Twitch, and Starcraft 2 looked good so I got it.

Definitely worth a purchase, online skrims with players are very good and the matching system means you wont get obliterated by some guy whos been playing it 24/7 for the past 5 years.

It was on free download couple years ago but can't find it now.

Try this to sate the appetite.

I really should build myself a new PC, trying to run this stuff on my work MAC is probably not a good idea.

Supreme Commander was the sequel to the Total Annihilation series I think, I only tried the demo but it was good.

World in Conflict was fun too.

One of the latest is Wargame Airland Battle, which I want to try sometime.

Steam supports MAC. Not sure which games are compatible but give it a look.
