I'm not one for Americanisums (sp?) and 'Video' will always mean VHS to me - but 'Computer Games' was/is so horribly 80's - it's like the forum was written by my Mum.

Being a computer snob I would like to see it split into two forums.

1. Computer Games.
2. Consule Games for Girls & Mincers.

Prepares to be flamed!

I wrote for C&VG when I was 14. 35 years go. Even then they were hedging on names

Me too, we could split it into

1) Hardcore PC gamers, who have water cooling, 'Grafix Cards' and custom keyboards.
2) Casual Console Gamers who have girlfriends, other interests and a life.

wink

Video games? I thought that was only used by people over the age of 60.

Not really, though - it was to cover home computer games plus console games.

And CounterStrike pees on both of them from a very, very great height. \0/

Video Games? Someone on Pistonheads is really showing their age lol.

Anyway, video games = consoles and computer games = computers.

What about hardcore console gamers who girlfriends, other interests and a life? Where do they fit in?

"Video Games" is also a cool name for this, has a nice nostalgic 1980s American ring to it.

Then there would need to be a seperate forum for Liars...

I'm a hardcore gamer with a Sandwich Maker, I like Machinima... and am occasionaly expected to make public appearances at social engagements.

Or perhaps that does fit your criteria biggrin

Video games sounds a bit nostalgic to me too. Computer games was better. We don't all hang around in arcades, in fact most of us have an aversion to sunlight so venturing outside requires stealthy navigation of post-apocalyptic underground subway tunnels or high rise business buildings air conditioning systems.
