Has everyone gone for a hard copy? I didn't realise it would arrive before the 3rd and you could pre-load before it'sactivated. They take an age to load.

I was going to go for the DLC version as you get a some freebies.

Not played on the PC for quite a while, but the original was one of my favourite games.

Will have to give this a bash.

6pm eh, was hoping it would be midnight but guess that leaves others out. I've bought the DLC version all loaded and ready to play. My mrs thinks i'm mental for taking a day off!

I’m hoping this isn’t the case, I left mine downloading yesterday but didn’t keep an eye on how long it actually took. I was getting about 10mb download speed and it took at least a few hours.

What sort of system is everyone running for this? Mine plays Shogun 2 fine, on the campaign map it runs quickly without taking an age in between turns. For battles it runs fine on the fastest setting with graphics right up until you’ve got quite sizeable armies involved where it stutters a bit. I’m running an i5 quad, and AMD 3gb graphics, was considering getting another graphics card for crossfire.

Whilst I can't vouch for Total War 2, I found Crossfire to be be quite detrimental to framerate (micro-stuttering) in all the games I tried it in, Battlefield 3, FarCry 3, RFactor 2, Arma 3 and BioShock Infinite. So much so, that I sold me extra card and went back to a single.

That’s good to know. I think it was March of this year I built myself a new gaming PC with the Rome II release in mind. I se tout with a 1K budget, I think in the end by time I went for a 3Gb graphics card and chucked in a solid state drive it was more like 1.2k. I think the card I went for was about £350.

Just saying a 3gb card means nothing biggrin

3gb is the memory it has. It could be a old one with 3gb which isnt great, or a brand new one with 3gb.

I knew/still know very little about hardware but managed to build it without too much trouble.

That might be a Radeon issue though.

I've been running dual nVidia graphics cards SLI for a while and found them to work really well. Especially on BF3 & Far Cry 3.

Balls, meant to buy this months ago to get the Greek DLC but never got around to it irked Wasn't a massive fan of Shogun 2 (troops moved too quickly in the battles for my liking) but Rome is my favourite game ever so I've got high hopes for this!

My current set up runs shogun 2 in full settings without any effort

Asus Z77 Sabertooth
Intel i5 Oc'd to 4.0ghz
32Gb Corsair DDR3 Vengence
Gigabyte 480GTX SE OC

Will probably change the 480 for either a 780 or 770 GTX before Christmas

Wish my laptop could handle it. I should really get round to building my own PC.

Love the release trailer for it too, really sets the tone perfectly!

Shogun Total War II it ran the battle on maxed settings fine on the normal and first speeded up level. If you had a particularly large amount of units there is some log if you take it to make speed. I’ve not over clocked the CPU or GPU as yet so still some room to manoeuvre. Will see how it goes tonight.

Will be locking myself away from 1800hrs tonight.
