How does the graphics ability of a modern tablet/I-Pad stack up to running classic games?

Real Racing (even with the awful updates) and FIFA do a brisk trade on my IPad at home but don't really go in for these tablet games that driven by IAP spending.

Reading the Greatest Games thread today got me thinking, why haven't more of the absolute classic games been converted to "app form"?

I'm thinking of games like C&C, Roller Coaster Tycoon, Age of Empires and Red Alert. They'd be absolutely epic on a tablet!

They can't be that demanding graphically, especially considering how good something like RR looks!

I've lost hours playing streets of rage & broken sword, they are pretty much on point for me,

The new version of theme park is poor, not a patch on the original,

I'd love to see Street fighter 2 developed for the iPad, that would keep me going for ages.

Red Alert - https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/command-conquer-re...

I guess many don't work very well on touchscreens.

I'd love Street Fighter and Chaos Engine on tablet

Speaking from an Android user, I enjoy the newly released Transport Tycoon and also Speedball. Both look good on tablet and are fun in their own right

Didn't know Streets of Rage was available... Off to Play Store....

That's my point! If they can do it why not others? Some of these games are made of touch screen!

I've played the version of Red Alert above as well, it's a bit crap and disappointing to be honest

If you've got an android phone then there are plenty of emulators available.

I've currently got Final Fantasy VIII and Theme Hospital on my S3. You have to use the on-screen controller buttons though. A touchscreen version of C&C would be amazing...

Streets of Rage appears iOS only, shame.

Is a good list of a few classics available now as apps
