COD:Ghosts to run at 720p on Xbox One?
Discussion
Don't think I've seen any official confirmation, but seeing some chatter on some sites?:
"Call of Duty: Ghosts And Titanfall To Run At 720p On Xbox One?":

"Call Of Duty: Ghosts PS4 1080p Vs Xbox One 720p":

Not seeing anything on Kotaku, Gamespot, IGN, etc.

According to an article here, some sources say Activision have placed an embargo stopping people with hands-on experience from posting those details.
Thats not the best site to get info from though as there's alot of very biased, PC Elite style reporting - its just one of the very few I can get onto in work.

There are several websites denying it too.
This is causing me a dilemma. Had xbox's all along and would have stuck out of familiarity but am considering switching if the PS4 is going to be noticeably better. The significance of the power difference seems hard to predict currently. Way too much biased reporting going on.

This is exactly why I have not bothered pre ordering and will not be buying eaither console for around a year, I have no loyalty to XBOX and will switch if the PS4 is proven to be better, but one or both are bound to have teething issues, and there is enough current content on the xbox360 to keep me going until the choice becomes more obvious. This is causing me a dilemma. If it is never clear cut and both consoles turn out to be more or less the same I will just stick to the XBOX for ease of transition.
The PC version minimum specs are 6GB RAM and 40GB hard disk space which I would guess is because of some massive textures. The only game I remember being nearly this big was Max Payne 3 which was around 35GB. It doesn't necessarily translate to amazing graphics though because I don't remember thinking Max Payne 3 was anything really special and Crysis 3 is only around 17GB.

I've basically ended up making 2 threads talking about next-gen console performance. Maybe merge this current one with:

...and call it "Next-gen console performance" ?
Thank-you

Yes it is, the Xbox One upscaled it from 720p to 1080p.
Also somebody at Dice has said Battlefield 4 on PS4 is native 1080p and the Xbox is 720p upscaled to 1080p.
Looking at comparison videos they look very similar, but the PS4 does look more dull. It looks like the Xbox has better and stronger lighting and its a sharper picture.
People are hitting back at that by saying Xbox are using brighter lighting to hide the lesser resolution.
Who knows until see see it with your own eyes, everything is compressed on video also.

Are we ignoring the power of cloud gaming? I think we will end up in position where the shared titles look better on PS4 but any One exclusives built to utilize the cloud will perform a lot better. Yes it requires an internet connection, but so what? Does anyone play offline with a console with built in wifi?

No one is 'hitting back', Digital Foundry, whose comparison videos seem to have ridiculous levels of contrast compared to the PS4, came right out and said they'd botched their capture up and it looked wrong. This sniffs of what happened when PS3 and Xbox 360 where launched. Everyone on Sony camp kept going on about it had 1080p and Xbox 360 could only do 1080i. Then MS popped in a patch and Xbox 360 now had the ability to do 1080p. So is this just a bit of firmware/software that MS will sort out in time?

This is different, your 360 and PS3 games weren't rendering at 1080p. The Xbone outputs at 1080p but it's upscaling a 720p image whereas the PS4 renders 1080p natively.
Its still being hyped up though.
Yes there are facts and figures showing obvious differences in the consoles, but deciding which one to buy because Cod might look a little jaggered on one more than the other is a bit daft.
Even the articles showing the differences say they are still both very similar, but of course they weren't going to look exactly the same on both consoles, this was kind of expected..

To say CoD might look a 'little more jagged' is downplaying the situation somewhat. The PS4 is offering the same performance, but at a higher resolution with things like Anti-aliasing and Ambient Occlusion at a cheaper price. But if people want to pay more for a weaker performing console, then that's their choice.

The PS4 will look better
