Steam and windows 8.1

Apologies if this is a repost...can't get my search to work for some reason.

Will keep it short..

Bought a new laptop within the last 4 weeks to replace my desktop, Sony Viao , installed Steam and was able to download and play my games no problem - games were far quicker/better because I asked for a laptop that was good for gaming - very impressed overall.

Last night upgraded to 8.1 - steam opens as usual go to my games library and when I try and play a game an error message appear

" A serious error was encountered and the application will close - an error file has been generated in crash dumps".

Tried updating video drivers it says they are up to date.

Should I uninstal Steam and reinstall ? I don't really want to lose my saved games but if I have to then so be it.

Any advice for this computer illiterate fool appreciated !

Thanks for that link - it's all fixed now - just 10 minutes before your post my wife took great pleasure in telling me she'd fixed it. just in case anyone has similar

she went into the game's library - right clicked on the game - local files - verify integrity of game cache. It then installed something and is now working.

I'm sure she will hardly mention the fact she knew how to fix it.....
