I've been playing BF3 for a good while now (almost since it came out) and got BF4 on the release day and been playing in on my Xbox 360 with a view to an Xbox One upgrade.

I'm not seeing much - if any - of an improvement. The levels seem to lack the "atmosphere" and detail of the BF3 levels, and a lot of them seem a little "dull", just flat and glassy like the Shanghai maps. The collapsing buildings/dam are more of a set piece than real destruction.

Anyone else feel the same, or am I just missing something?

The Xbox One version is hands down the best shooter I've ever played.

My mate had both the XB1 and 360 versions and he said that on the 360 it was basically BF3.5 except the console couldn't really keep up with the destruction so it made it feel glitchy, dull and unrealistic.

However the leap forward to the Xbox One version is massive, I played BF3 a lot and loved it but BF4 is simply amazing. The graphics are amazing and the gameplay is fluent even on 64 player maps with tons going on.

Ugh, don't get me started on those bloody Pomskies(sp?!). Madam wants one but I think our Kangal would see it as more of a snack. hehe

how can you really compare something you have been playing on for months/year + to something you may have spent a few days on?

I am loving BF4 at the moment and not even hit multiplayer. I always do the single player first then go into Multiplayer after.

I am convinced that the BF4 on the PS3/360 has been made to be "average" so that when you shell out for the PS4/XBone version you will be much happier.

Doubt it. The technology on current gen was running at its peak on BF3, they couldn't take it much further. Don't forget EA were working with 8 year old hardware at this point.

I loved that - it was awesome. My favourite map of all time - Dragon Valley. I'm praying that gets remade.

Can't speak for BF4 yet, as I'm still waiting for them to sort out all the issues before I consider getting the game.

But whilst I enjoyed BF3, like TEKNOPUG says, even BF3 couldn't compare to BF2.

The maps were FAR FAR too small. All the flags were centrally located. It felt like a BF:BC game. Squads should have been larger as well. And whilst the expansions have improved on the maps are far as Flag spacing goes, they still didn't go far enough in replecating the feel of earlier games in the series.

There were too many CQ maps, and maps with very few tactical movement opportunities (Davamand Peak......and the tunnel of doom!! Curse you!!!), and whilst I'm sure some people enjoyed those maps....they were far too COD like.

I was hoping that BF4 would be more of nod back to earlier games in the series as far as map layout design......but as I haven't really paid much attention to BF4 yet I don't know if that is the case or not.

Well, when you fly a chopper and the controls are rather poor and unclear.............

What confuses me is when some newer games have significantly better graphics.

Funny, I thought the same thing with regard to 'Battlefield: Bad Company 2' when BF3 was released...

I thought the same too, at first.

But then I put more hours in, and it grew on me.

BF4 still feels like BF3.5 to me = but it is definitely more balanced (well, except the bombing planes / attack choppers still, maybe) but other than that, yeah it's good
