PS4 or Xbox One, Which is best....?

Evening folks. I am not a gamer, so sorry if this has been done before. But, Christmas is coming and my son wants to replace his PS3. I have said he can have a PS4 or Xbox One, however he doesn't know which is best. He mainly plays Call of Duty type games and from time to time will play on line.with friends.
So what's the thoughts of the Pistonheads gamers then, is one better at gaming than the other....?

Pointless question to ask - a very 'religious' question at that.

The fact of the matter though, is that the PS4 is outselling the xbox by a very large percentage. That should say a lot.

I haven't heard anything bad from either OWNERS but PS4 from an impartial point seems to be better technologically but the Xbox seems to have a better launch window of games.

Unfortunately it's the internet and fanboys and haters will shout. If I was to buy one today it would probably be the Ps4.

Edit to add and this is the most important factor, buy whatever his friends have. They will both be good consoles with great games as have this generation been. But he will get a lot more enjoyment playing with his friends.

don't base a decision on "launch titles" in 6 months they will all be old hat.

probably best to check what your mates are getting if you want to play online with them.

either way you can always sell your console and switch sides.

I'd say it comes down to which format specific franchises you prefer, the Microsoft stuff like Forza, Gears, Halo etc or the Sony stuff, Gran Turismo, Mgs, FF etc.

MGS is on Xbox one now. FF may also be.

Bit of a moot point at the moment as you might struggle to get either in time for Christmas now.

They're both very good machines, hence why I've got a large credit card bill facing me and both machines tucked up beneath my TV.
