Hi,

I've had my G27 now since it came out and had a G25 before that. With GT6 coming out I want to treat myself for Christmas....

So what is the best wheel and pedal set you can buy?? The budget isn't unlimited but I'm happy to spend approx £1500. Or would I be wasting my money as the G27 is still good enough??

I don't really know much about things like this, I bought the g25/27 on recommendations from here and love it. Obviously it would have to work with a PS3 and I would hope be compatible with PS4, PC would be a bonus but not the be all and end all.

Thanks for your help

Mike

Surely, with sort of budget you could buy Fanatec set up for like £600, then a pretty decent PC for like £800. Then spend the remaining £100 on iRacing membership, tracks and cars....

Your assuming he hasn't got a gaming PC, in the OP he states "PC would be a bonus but not the be all and end all" which suggests otherwise.

£1,500 is an epic spend, I thought I was going a bit OTT buying a £1k TV ready for the new console hehe

The top line of fanatec wheels pedals and shifters comes in at €1250 so still some left over money to play with. Maybe an extra monitor?

Thanks for the help so far! It will be mainly used on the play station as my tech side isn't quite up to getting my head around PC gaming... I can never work out how you add tracks etc. I love GPL but play the basic game as I can't seem to do the above..

If I don't have to spend that much then it is a bonus. This fanatec stuff looks good!

Isnt spending this much way over the top and pointless for a console game like GT6 or Forza which (from what I have read) dont even come close to the realism/physics of a good pc sim?

Buy a PC and get on iracing - its a different kettle of fish altogether.

I am fking awful at it hehe

Yeah but even if it makes no difference to the experience? Loaded or not surely that's just a waste of money.

I don't want to be a dick, but if you've got a grand and a half spare please please please spend it on a track car and tour it around the countries racing circuits!

You'd be living my (more realistic) dream(s) : )

That said, I've got the base Playseat and it's ace. That, and the G25 is the only reason is pick GT over Forza.

I've got a Fanatec CSW - It's bloody ace. I think I paid about £900 all in with the base unit, wheel rims, pedals etc.

It's been sent back to Fanatec once because a FFB motor died, but it was returned within the week and better than new.

I've got the Fomula and BMW rims and being able to swap them depending on the type of car I'm driving really adds something special to the immersion.

Recommended!

Have a look at Cerberav8racing.co.uk my real racing dreams are going just fine. £1500 only just gets one set of Slicks that last about 30 minutes.....

I'm not loaded but do spend what I have on what I want...

What you have said is what I suppose I was getting at in my original post. Will I see a big difference whilst playing GT6 between my G27 and something better?

Iracing truly is fantastic. It is a massive difference to say GT or Forza though - much harder in my experience but perhaps that is because it is supposed to be as realistic as you can get. It serriously feels like a proper race - I (very geekily) actually get nervous sitting on the grid at the start of a race sometimes rofl.

Seriously, try it you will not regret it. With your budget you may be able to get something like this which I would LOVE and may do in the new year (iracing is a piece of piss to run on even a modest pc)

This would be amazing;

Super duper geeky gloves not necessary hehe but my hands do get sweaty during races scratchchin
