I must admit that I have looked at a couple of games on youtube and thought nah, not for me and it has really put me off a purchase.

Definitely, YouTube was what prompted me to buy the last of us. I always find them useful.

I guess you mean 'lets play' style videos?

If so then it can influence it, yes.

Either I watch the first ep, and go 'oh man I must try this' and buy it - or I'll watch a whole series of a game I can't/won't play (either too scary, or just not my thing).

I've also watched a bunch of games that I played and enjoyed but had no-one to chat about them to, like Bioshock Infinite, so I can see other people's thoughts and opinions on the game through their eyes as they play.

I bought Killzone on ps4 on the merits of watching someone play it on youtube.

I think so, it was Youtube that made me go in for Minecraft a couple of years ago, it's not normally the type of game I play but the chaps seemed to be having so much fun
