Game creation software for kids ? or puzzle type games ?

Wondering if anyone has seen/tried anything like this ?

I've seen a few (Scratch/Starlogo) but not really sure if they are any good. Its for my friend's 7 year old.

He's pretty clever (least when he wants to be) and I thought it might be good to get him thinking/using some imagination.

Or maybe something more educational that would make him solve maths/logic problems ?

Anything thats going to make him think really.
