I love the PS4 - I only have the free games and battlefield 4 but it is seriously impressive - I die a lot as I am wandering along then I go - oooh, look how realistic the sun is coming through the trees there.. I stop and stare - the enemy don't and shoot me...... I mean, on a map on BF4 (Shanghai) on a billboard there is an advert for cat food, there is a news story on another billboard... It is just sooooo cool how much they have stuffed into it.

I also am playing the free on-line game oh and I used it to watch some stuff on Lovefilm.

I think once a few more games come out I want it will be awesome.

I love my XBone, the only things that I think need improvement are;

-The party system needs a serious revision, it's too complicated and st.

-Doesn't show up when friends are online, so it just sort of feels like your on your own all of the time unlike the 360 where you felt constantly 'connected' with other people.

Other than that I love it! I only play Fifa 14 and Forza but I'm not bored of them yet.

I bought myself a PS4 (my mrs would go mental if she knew) but wish I'd waited till more games were available. I have 'Need for Speed' but want Forza and maybe COD? Graphics etc are great although I still haven't learnt my way around the controls yet. It's certainly a step up from my old Megadrive.

Xbox One here. Totally chuffed as I was fully intending on replacing my 360 (and semi-redundant PS3 that's on blu-ray duty) with one myself in the new year. Great surprise this Christmas.

No games yet, my intent is to brave the Boxing Day stores tomorrow and purchase a couple, though could do with some PH help....

Happy with my first choice of Forza 5, but what shooter should I settle for that shows off the new hardware best? I've been a loyal COD player on 360, but held off getting Ghosts for it, as the next-gen consoles were arriving soon. So do I go for the obvious choice of that, or give Battlefield 4 a go? I didn't have the last one, but have only heard great things.

If you fancy a change you'll love Battlefield. 32 player teams on maps that span full towns with aeroplanes/helicopters etcetc is brilliant.

Just got an xbone with Cod ghosts. Had BF4 on the 360. I'm much preferring ghosts. Don't know if that's because the xbone is better or if it's the game.
Ghosts is great though, feels a lot more like some of the older better CCOD editions,.

XBone itself is fantastic, switching between online gaming and 40d and netflix halfway through a film is instantaneous, very good user interface.
Very quiet, can't hear it running.

Got an xbox, seriously underwhelmed with the experience.

Started with a reboot as it hung during setup. Then everything needs downloading from an initial 507MB system update to every game played. If I stick a disc in for a game, I don't expect a 330MB download to prevent me playing the game!!

Now we can't insert a disc as the disc drive just doesn't recognise something is going in.

Lack of user guide - wtf!? All I have is a couple of sheets of paper which are really lacking any detail. I don't expect to have to google everything!

Fifa14 is very nice however - well, the initial Real v Barca game it let's me play while the rest is downloaded banghead

I got a PS4 with COD: Ghosts, Killzone and Assassins Creed IV.

Defo a step up from the PS3 in every way and the games that will really show this machine off are still to come.

BF4 is awesome graphically. As well as the gameplay.

You can take a helicopter, boat, plane, jetski and even a tank for a stroll. Using them to mow down the enemy...

That's interesting I haven't heard of disc drives failing already, have you noticed anything else? I love Xbox but am quite tempted to get a PS4 next month and wait til next Christmas for the xbox.

COD: Ghosts isn't next gen. It's a polished Last Gen engine and it really shows up when put side by side a next gen engine. You'll need something along the lines of a custom coded engine, similar to the one that powers Killzone Shadow Fall for true next gen.

In the meantime, the differences in the Frostbite 3 ported engine and Frostbite 3 next gen engine are more substantial and therefore BF4 is a better bet.

We (the PH BF4 PS4 clan) spent some time on shanghai the other week, it was an empty server and we were messing around, but the attention to detail is amazing, from the floor textures, to the detail in the buildings and shops that are tucked away, out of 'normal' play areas. Even when the skyscraper comes down, the density of the dust and debris that 'floats' in the air is so incredibly detailed.... The little puffs of exhaust plume from vehicles, the heat haze from heli exhausts...

On the PS4 we can broadcast our games, complete with mic and video and others can watch, spent some time watching an HD broadcast from someone playing ghosts and i can confirm it looks decidedly dated when compared to other release titles, especially on the MP side of things - not to mention it gives nothing new over the old generation games except slightly prettier weapons and players - BF4 is far more engaging and allows multiple routes to defeat the opposition.

Playstation Magazine put it perfectly - "The last one, but prettier"

With regards to what puggit said, my friends Xbox One was a Phase One console that he got during the Phase Three shipments... His Disc drive wouldn't acknowledge any discs and the HDD started getting read/write errors - he was told by Microsoft support that there is around a 10% error rate with release consoles for P1 shipment and he is to report to his vendor - but to be advised that he may have to wait for a replacement (not good for paying for pre-order) - He went to Game and was only given a console replacement after refusing to leave the shop (they had stock, but it had fifa bundled with it and he ordered vanilla). Thats not to say PS4 is any better, there was a 4% failure rate for the HDD/Graphics chip on release, but i think Sony have handled this substantially better by guaranteeing replacements would be shipped before Christmas.

Son had a ps4 from Santa and last night I had an hour on killzone and battlefield 4. I kept on stopping to look at the floor, walls and landscape as they looked so real.

Other players must of looked at me just looking at the floors and walls and thought I'm either mad or just admiring the textures lol!

The menu on the ps4 is so slick and so fast and I think the actual machine looks really smart and stylish too.

Overall very impressed!

Surprised you lasted long enough to look at the floor! Killzone is proper manic! I was watching some Air Support drones and said to my family "Oooo look at that!", shortly followed by "oh, it was an enemy one" and promptly respawned!

I got my console officially for Christmas, but exactly like Jas, the box only stayed sealed for about five minutes before the devil made work for idle thumbs biggrin
