As title, somewhere to play old arcade machines/games. Interested in the fighter ones like street fighter or tekken?

Other option is somewhere to play them on a newer console, xbox preferably for similar type of game, have a bet to settle which includes free food
Final one, close to Central London as possible please? There is a thread on London thread but this may be the right audience to answer

The trocadero was the big place, but I don't know what it's like these days, and whether it'd still have some classics.

Namco Funscape would be where I'd go.

FunLand is a shadow of it former glory.
I was there at the end of last year, and most of the floorspace is now occupied by small stalls selling tack and a few arcade machines.

Thanks folks, I've googled them all and the only suitable one looks like is Trocadero. Tried looking for a list of arcade machines they have to use but nothing so may be a case to just turn up, this is also the most suitable location wise.

I went the Trocadero just before Christmas and Thera hardly anything left in there. Most of the places shut down and there's just a few machines left. If try elsewhere.

Yep , Remember wasting lots of pocket money on Mortel Kombat....worth it though. Now everywhere is replaced with gambling machines

We took a trip to London with college around ten years ago, we found what I think was called Sega World?

Anyways, it was ace. Absolutely class, loved it.

Was back in London a little while ago with a mate, we trekked right across town to find this Sega World - all I wanted to do was play sh*t loads of Sega Rally but the Royal Family, the selfish a*seholes, had decided to put on some kind of parade through the town?!

Well didn't this just f*ck up my plans! All the streets were closed. I nearly took up Free Running there and then just to navigate that sodding town.

Eventually found what used to be Sega World, but it was rubbish. I did get to play some Sega Rally but I'd spent most of my £ coins on lattys and chocolate so, unfortunately, I didn't get to play sh*t loads : (

Was the worst day of my life : ( ( ( ( (

I remember when you could play arcade games for less than £1 a go. In the late 90s when it was a quid a shot and arcade games were made so hard that you were only playing them for a few minutes before you died and needed to put more money in, things were getting stupid. The difficulty was ramped up, probably to keep the money flowing in, except when you could easily spend a lot of money in no time at all it just made more sense to buy home games instead. I saw mention of a bar in Soho there, if someone made a bar that had arcade games in it, and the games were cheap to play on, they'd be a great way to get people in the door so they could buy a load of drink to make it financially viable.

Was lucky enough to have 2 kids in my class at school (talking Mid 80's!!) whose dad/uncle managed one of the big arcades.

Cue much freebies!

I remember the likes of:

Dragons Lair
Firefox Laserdisc
Space Ace
Time Pilot
Rampage
Space harrrier

What was the F1 game that had 3 massive screens, sit in job?

Shame about Trocadero. The last game I remember playing there was F355 Challenge. Amazing when you had to climb into it. Damned hard, too, if you turned off the driving aids.

Ah Sega World......now that brings back memories.

It was all about the 8 player Daytona. Now that was epic fun right there!

Tbh, that place was doomed to fail once the consoles really took off.

The idea of an old skool arcade bar sound quite appealing. I know there are coffee places/ bars that have those PC tables in them with the likes of Pac-Man on them.

Yeah many an afternoon spent in Sega World. I think the trocadero is just waiting to be turned into a hotel or something. I popped in there the other day and it was very tacky.

OP - worth checking if Namco station is still about. Used fto be a pretty big arcade in County Hall just by the Millennium Wheel.

Namco is still there, by the London Eye.
