It's still very good. And Neverwinter Nights, despite looking old and hoary, is fabulously deep and engrossing.

Its because BG has never been topped as an RPG. Dragon Age came close, but not close enough.

Didn't do much fo the first but loved the second instalment. ToB wasn't bad but the highlight was exploring the underworld with that Drow Cleric. Some very weird dialogue in that area.

I used to Love Baldurs gate when it first came out on pc, has it transferred over to Ipad well? I would probably get into it again. Also is the ipad version the full game? or have parts been cut out?

Cheers

hmmmm still have this on my laptop - may have to dust it off for another several months play (as well as Icewind Dale - nowhere near as good, but fun non-the-less). BG is my favourite pc game, I just loved the way it played... everything about it in fact

Did you ever play Planescape Torment, that was the best of the lot!

Loved these games, god knows how many hours I spent on them. I still think about reinstalling them every now and again, but I don't know if there is enough hours in the day.
Some of the fights were ridiculously hard if you didn't have the right mix of characters.

I did back pillars of eternity on kickstarter, which is fallout new vegas and south park developers obsidian's attempt at a spiritual successor. They have some icewind dale veterans on their team.
It's looking great from what I have seen so far. I hope they don't f*** it up. It's their own IP and self published unlike their previous games so it hopefully won't be as rushed as new vegas

Oh yes, that's the one I played. Getting that magic floating sword and spending all the points on that made it a bit of an easy game, though. I won't mention the dropping/saving issue that meant you could clone unique items. ISTR being able to pass it to another new character?
