Hawken - FTP stompy robots game

Anyone tried it? It's FTP on Steam so I had a go tonight. It's a bit fuzzy and hard to see what's going on and the maps a bit generic deathmatch but the gameplay seems pretty good. Either I got lucky or the team balancing algorithm is excellent because both matches I played were close (2-3 kills different) and no one romped away top of the scoreboard.

I'm going to keep playing and see how the micro payment effect it but initial impressions are good.

I'm quite enjoying it. Need to spend some real money though as I keep coming off second best against the bigger mechs.
