Seriously, which retard thought these were a good idea? Lazy game making at its worst!
Take for example this 'fun' sequence I just had to do:

This just became an exercise in annoyance rather than adding any good to the game - first time he grabs you, you think 'oh, how exciting!' 10th time? fk it.

QTEs really should have died out several generations of console ago. Awful things. I also find you miss so much of what is actually going on as you are too busy staring at the screen waiting for the next 'event' to pop up.

What do you propose is used instead?
Or should they just not have anything?

I don't find QTEs a problem, I think they do add something if done properly, which I thought Tomb raider wasn't bad at all, really enjoyed it myself.

The problem is that they don't add anything - generally you fail the first time because you have no idea what buttons to press and thus it loses any impact apart from 'oh, I was supposed to press that'. After that it becomes an exercise in frustration whereas noted you just look at the prompts rather than what is going on.

Solution?
Well for the scene above, what's wrong with him just trying to grab you like any other enemy and you fight him off in the same way? Or just have it done automatically with no involvement from the player like a cutscene?

We managed to survive in gaming for years without them, why are they so used all of sudden?
