Which teaspoon, I mean games console.
Discussion
As I traverse middle age as a sad old loner, I've been playing Call of Duty 4 on my iMac, whilst I sit in my flat and realise that my kids are starting to have their own lives to lead.
Well first I'm crap at using the keyboard and the track pad and keep getting blown up plus I have a nice big plasma in the sitting room wired up to decent speakers.
There is a barely used, and now broken I think, Wii conected to it and somewhere in my junk I have a Playstation 2.
I understand that the newer PS3 and 4 won't play the old discs so time to start afresh. Not really interested at getting destroyed by 10 year olds with headsets on line but what's best and good value for money.
PS4 or XBox One?
ETA Oh the 3 HDMI sockets are all in use. BlueRay/YouView/ChromeCast so apart from replugging should I buy a hub of some sort?

Personally I'm an Xbox person (having previously owned Playstation 1&2) because I much prefer the controller, plus it has Forza -
Currently have a 360, but planning to upgrade to the One when prices drop a bit further.
The only downside is no Gran Turismo
If I could I'd have both, although I currently have neither yet. While I get the controller preference I'd highly recommend trying the PS4 controller if you can, while the 360 was superior to the PS3 controller I honestly believe the PS4 controller to be equal if not better in some respects to the new XBox one.Currently have a 360, but planning to upgrade to the One when prices drop a bit further.

Having said that Forza vs GT is a difficult call to make, GT has been getting a bit stale recently so the next one needs to be bloody good IMO

You need a decent gaming mouse with a decent mouse mat, setup with the right (low) sensitivity & acceleration truly switched off (registry setting)Get yourself a gaming PC (not a laptop) get sat at a desk, get 'steam' and you will be pwning noobs in multitudes of games within weeks.

Cheers but I'm trying to get away from my desk. The ChromeCast now allows me to watch stuff on the Plasma in the comfort of my armchair so a console will allow the same and won't a gaming PC cost an arm and a leg?Get yourself a gaming PC (not a laptop) get sat at a desk, get 'steam' and you will be pwning noobs in multitudes of games within weeks.
The 360 and PS3 are both in the twilight years, after a couple of years you'll struggle to get anything new on both systems. But if I were you I'd get the 360 and some classics in the meantime until the new generation gets much cheaper.
Forza 4
Halo 4
Fallout: New Vegas
Skyrim
Grand Theft Auto V

There are some great games on the PS3...
The Last of Us.
Journey
Flower
Limbo
GTA4/5
Gran Turismo 6
BioShock Infinite
And probably loads more. And I don't rate them as just being 'games'. I think they're absolute classics that need to be experienced.
Call of Duty and Battlefield are great fun (the latter on a good PC is spectacular) but don't really change the way views games.
If you buy an Xbox One, or PS4, all you'll be getting are safely developed launch titles designed to sell and get the consoles off the ground. Not a great gaming experience that the older consoles could offer. And at less than half the price, too.
