The Gamecube game from 2002 was remade for Wii in 2009, now its getting the PS4/Xbox One remake treatment in 1080p HD widescreen 5.1 with RE4 controls.

I wish they would recreate the original Resident Evil for the modern era! The crude opening door cut scenes was just brilliant!!

The last of us was a great game but only the hotel area was ever 'jumpy'!!

Oof! I (fondly) recall the pleasant memories of playing Resident Evil Zero and Resident Evil on GameCube! This can only be good news!
I'm one of those middle aged people who bought a PlayStation bundle with RE2. Loved the modified shotgun!

Easily the scariest RE game and one of the best on the Gamecube. Even now few other titles could match that sense of impending horror when you realise there's no way around that dead zombie, and he's going to turn into one those incredibly quick Crimson Heads the moment you get too close

The Gamecube version was a remake of the 1995 original on the PSOne. So its actually going to be a remake of the remake of the remake of the original title.

I bought the first 2 res evils when they came out on the PS1. was it that long ago. 20 bloody years in 2016. christ.

Well after 2 it went down hill and I never bought another.

I felt much the same way with Tomb raider until they brought out the last one which I enjoyed.

So a reboot on modern consoles would be good. but they would have to do something like Dead rising in Res Evil or something

Proper survival horror please - like Resi 1. Other than that - they can make it however they wish - there's nothing scary about going up against zombies, lickers and tyrants when you have virtually any weapon....

I may have confused people.

The "Resident Evil Inception" name was a joke, remake of a remake of a....

I'm pretty sure this is the original Resident Evil game, with the HD treatment, not a brand new RE game.

If it was like RE IV on the Wii I'd buy it for certain.

Great - a twenty year old game charged at 2014 next gen prices, now if they followed the Master Chief Collection and polished them all up, I would hand over £40-£45 but for one game - not a chance.

Why not? Some of the greatest games were made years ago, but they now lack the graphics and scale that modern games have. I'd love some of the storylines and plots of old games to be re-made into new versions, retaining the original gameplay but updating the imagery.

It's also longer and deeper than many modern games which have a 6 hur campaign and multiplayer that's dead within months. Although knowing Capcom they'll probably find some way to put half of it as on disc DLC

Silent Hill was decent too. Intense fog, radio static, flashlight, crowbar/pipe, handgun low on bullets...

I welcome the idea of rebooting old games as modern games are just copying them in some way anyway. Why stop at RE1 why not 2 & 3, silent hill has been mentioned, metal gear solid etc id buy them.

It's the GameCube version in 1080p, hopefully Capcom are just testing the water for RE2 and 3 reboots in the classic format.
