PS4 - Cheaper game downloads and game sharing
Discussion
Hi all;
Very new to our video games section of PH. Tried looking for this and couldn't see it; thought I'd share a couple of handy tips I use for my PS4 to make buying games much cheaper.
First thing is getting cheaper game downloads. On the UK PSN store, and retailers such as Amazon, Game and Tesco; games mostly sit in the £50-£60 tier. On the US PSN store, most games are $59.99 which is about £37 (a staggering £23 less). Thus, it is much cheaper to buy games via the US store, rather than the UK store or retailer.
I created an account registered to a US address (I just googled a US hotel and put my address as there), and then was up and running on the US PSN store. I tried to buy my first game with a UK credit card, but the PSN US store doesn't allow this to stop people like me getting cheaper games. So, the way to fix this is simply go to amazon.com rather than amazon.co.uk. You can then proceed to buy PSN point/dollars (whatever they are) on a UK credit card, and can then redeem that on the PSN US store and then get the games substantially cheaper.
Now the only problem with this, is you cannot change the address on your PSN account to a different country, so you would need a new PSN account with a US address. This brings me onto my second tip. I'd imagine most know this anyway, but still thought I'd share for those who don't.
If a PSN user who's primary account is on their PS4 downloads a game, any other secondary accounts can also play that game on that console. So you can simply create a US account on your PS4, download the content on that console, and still play them under your main account.
But the trick goes further, and will only work for those prepared to start their account again. For me, this wasn't an issue as discovered this only 3 weeks after getting a PS4 as I came from an Xbox 360. I "game share" with my brother, meaning I buy games for $60, £37, and we can both play that same game. So in effect, the game is only costing me £18.50 as I split the cost with my brother. Now that is a mega saving compared to the £50-£60 (worth creating a new account if you have a friend to do this with IMO).
So the way to do this, is to make your main account only a secondary account on your PS4, and make your friends account a primary one. You also need to this vice versa on their PS4, making yours the primary on theirs, and theirs only the secondary on theirs. The reason for almost virtually swapping consoles is due to my earlier point about being able to play a game which is download on that console. What you then need to do is go onto your account (the secondary one on your own PS4), go onto the PSN store and download the game.
You will then be able to play that game (but only under your account on that console. You also need to be connected to the internet so it can validate you have purchased that game). Because you're account is primary on your friends console, he will then also be able to play that same game under his account. Similar to above, if he buys a game under his account on his console, you will then be able to play it on your console.
I hope that makes some sense and some may find it helpful. Actually makes buying new games quite cheap!

I didn't read it all as I know the concept. You could completely skip the buying PSN credit step and just purchase the same titles as a digital code from amazon.com:
http://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-Network/b?ie=UTF...
you'd still need a US account to redeem the code through ofcourse.

Without dragging this off topic entirely, Destiny is probably in the odd position of being the opposite to the norm. I think the views, opinions and review scores will increase as time goes by and people start to get a feel for the true depth of it. A day 1 review of Destiny is like a Day 1 review of EVE.
