Do you get replay value out of games?
Discussion
For example, I'm currently playing Baldurs Gate II, and once I've finished I could definitely replay as a totally different party in a different style. But I won't. I'd still be doing the majority of the same stuff and thousand side quests, just a different way. Same with the last splinter cell game, blacklist. I could have done a stealth run through, then a combat run.
I know some people do this but personally I just can't see it. How do you not get bored doing the same quests again, which the majority of any game will be?
My only exception is that I've played FF7 three times and FF8 twice (in about 16 years), and I done a moderate attempt at replaying FO3 but my heart wasn't in it.
(excluding multi-player of course .. I can happily sit on BF4 all night doing the same thing?!).

Depends on the game really - really linear single player modes (call of duty) inherently lack replay value aside from multiplayer.
titles which may have repetitive mechanics may still prove appealing through sheer quality (red alert 2), or wanting to try something different (prison architect). Sandbox games like GTA also never get boring unless you play every waking moment and burn out.
Everyone's got their favourites though. I've played through Call of Duty 2 so many times yet I'll still revisit once a year or so.

Yes.
But then it depends on the type of games you play I suspect.
Bingo. RPGs /Strats / MMOs = yes.But then it depends on the type of games you play I suspect.
Single player only, campaigns, linear games, action etc don't last long,
FYI - I've probably replayed through FF7 10 times now, most the time with the same party too, it's just that good - don't make them like that anymore.
Some great game time in there!
I think my record was WOW at ~3300 hours. Which I suppose interestingly enough it was just doing the same thing over and over.
Fair play to all you guys that can, I think for me once I've managed something with a level of ease the challenge has gone and I lose interest..

I racked up something like 44 days on MW3 and I'm up to 17 days on Ghosts so yes. I play the same maps over and over and yet still get the same joy at a kill and dissapointment at a death. I also got some serious time on Vice City. I gave up on the missions and spent a load of time joyriding around the streets. I'm easily pleased. That said, I only manaed about 2 weeks on BO2 before giving up with it.
I don't think you can count hours in a multi-player as replayability. I have thousands of hours of CoD, DoD and the CS variants.
Replayability is for single player games and then I have only played a few more than once. The Half Life games, Deus Ex, return to Castle Wolfenstein and Bioshock.

I tend to buy very few games, but play them endlessly. I average about 3 games per platform. Currently it's GT5/6 and GTA5.
On the PC it's Skyrim, which I picked up for pennies on a Steam sale, and am currently on my second playthrough. While I tried to use the Unbound mod to play a different combo, I find myself falling back into the same ranged/stealth type character as before.

It was one of the main problems with the MMO Star Wars:The Old Republic -the order of the levelling zones (planets) was set in stone, and all except the class quests were the same too. SO once you'd done a planet once the next time you went there with a new character it was the same missions from the same people, even your responses to their questions (it was fully voiced) were pretty much the same.
I still go back to it, but have to leave long gaps!

I still play Diablo 2. As a challenge, I'll set myself rules and try to stick to them eg see how far I can get with the druid only using dogs.
Have you tried playing as an assassin only using blade fury yet? (A Blade Furysin)Hardcore only - its fun

Edit: Ah, I see. Interesting set up!

You can just hold the mouse button down, and it repeatedly fires forever.
Its the least clicky skill in the game :P
But Diablo 2 for me offered great replay value, I wanted to beat Diablo with every character.
Then I wanted to play with friends.
Oh, ok. I'll give it a bash. Its the least clicky skill in the game :P
