PH Diablo 2 retro session
Discussion
The plan is to start with a group of level 1 adventurers, ideally all different character types and see how far we can go.
Anyone up for it?
Can't remember how many people you can have in a team as the last time I played, I was just soloing.
Also, there's the issue of doing it in hardcore mode which brings up the issue of what happens when people get killed.

Ok, hardcore is a possibility.
WRT the other game, just that we have D2 and know it so it's easier to get cracking. (Looks impressive, though! http://www.pathofexile.com/video ... doubt my PC will run it.
)
We should set a challenge eg the furthest we can do in 1 hour sessions or how far we can go before one of us dies.
Time: a wet Saturday afternoon. 3.30pm onwards is best for me I think.

8 players in D2 party, used to be mental!
And Hardcore is as it says - you die and that's it; everything you've worked for is completely gone. Unlike D3, where it just gets converted to softcore.
Are you thinking of POE with the softcore stuff there? And Hardcore is as it says - you die and that's it; everything you've worked for is completely gone. Unlike D3, where it just gets converted to softcore.
Someone re-live the hammerdin for me, I can't get d2 to run

They only one shot you if you don't have enough vitality, or you have neglected your resists.
Plus DX2 gives you charms that you can keep to give bonuses to this.
If you are too pussy for HC then I don't mind playing vanilla, whatever is most fun for everyone :P
Its more HELL mode i was referring to with -90 all resists and those lightening wisps do a massive amount of damage when in packs as they all group up and fire lightning at the same time. Can be resisted but can catch you out as packs will fire at you from the edge of the screen and if they have the 'spectral', 'lightening enchanted' or 'fanaticism' modifier they do even more damage, even cookie cut Barbs with massive HP/Resist can sometimes struggle. I remember thinking how unfair they would be on HC players

Just seen this - currently playing D3 on the PS4 but D2 is still my favourite.
Regarding Hardcore - it used to be that you had to complete the game once to unlock it, but then you can download programmes that enable it at start.
HC adds a level of difficulty as the game itself is not actually hard, plus some tactics! You have to actually look at your enemy and decide whether to run in or try and pick them off dependant on what they are, plus you have to build your characters differently - not just mass STR on a barb for example. And yes it is annoying when you die, I had a level 100 sorc on HC and died once when helping a random with an 'easy' quest. Lag got me (56k days).
Anyway, I digress - For just having a bit of a casual play software more appropriate. Can you add b'net accounts to a friends list ?
