My son wants one for his xbox 360 for Xmas, can anyone recommend which one to get that's not too expensive and where best to buy it from? Ideally looking to spend about fifty quid on one.

I'm about to sell my X41s, as new. Have served me well for a good few years. Selling my 360 and all it's paraphernalia as I've upgraded to a xbone.

They're really good for gaming while the wife is asleep..... until I concede one of THOSE goals on FIFA and rage...

I suspect you're going new though. I'm sure any of those on amazon will work fine. I've been a bit out of the loop since I bought mine (and even then they were a cracking deal off hotukdeals). Read some reviews and decide.

I'd be tempted to just get the cheapest (XL1s) unless you really think your son will tell the difference in sound quality.

I had PX5's for my PS3/360 and they were excellent. But they were £250!

Looking at the new Stealth 4/500 that have just come out for my PS4 as friends and reviews say they are pretty good for the £80/100 price tags.

Shame as I have some X11s up for grabs, the newer version the X12 I think only costs about £35 on Amazon

X12's are very good, I had some when I had a 360 and they lasted 2 years of quite a lot of use.

From what I could make out the x12's are usb but the reviews said you had to buy a converter kit to connect them up some other/better way to the xbox?

They are USB powered and go straight into the xbox out of the box, it's just the issue that you can't have HDMI and them in at the same time. I sort of bodged it to work without a converter though, if I remember I cut the little plastic tab off the bottom of the scart plug that blocks the HDMI going in, and then just jammed them both in, plugged the HD cable into the TV, and the Turtle Beaches into the scart plug and that was it. Worked fine apart from every time I turned the TV off and on, the Xbox would reset.. hehe

I've just bought myself a pair of XL1s at GAME for £35. Given GAME prices, you can probably get them a lot cheaper on Amazon. All I can say is HOLLLLLLLLLLY SHIIIIIIIIIIT. The sound quality is amazing. Unless you have a full surround sound setup with a good subwoofer and extremely tolerant neighbours, they beat the pants off whatever your TV can do. The sound is also directional in some games, which can help in competitive multiplayer. It also means the tv can be muted so playing well into the night won't piss anyone off.

They make a huge difference and are well worth getting. I find them better than any sort of in-room surround sound I've tried, as you say they are great for gaming at night at do give a true stereo experience which can be a real advantage (say in The Evil Within, I could tell where my enemies were just be listening for where the sound was coming from).

I've got a set of Turtle Beach XO4's for my Xbox One and they are very good. They are wired, so no batteries to worry about, and have a useful 'mix pad' connector which allows you to control master and voice/game channel volumes directly. Great product and a must have for me now.

I sell TB but I'm not restocking once they have gone as the copies make people think they should be cheap. Gen XL1 are about £30
