Long overdue upgrade from GT4..advice needed
Discussion
I don't play video games in general , but I have in the past used GT4 as a visual memory aid for places like the Ring, which I drive periodically but with longish gaps in between.
In the next season I will be at least at the Ring and Spa, Monza if I can get a track day.
I do not need to go up the GT 5 (?) line if there is a better alternative, and am happy to swap out the wheel and pedals etc.
It is something to while away some cold night before the her season starts. I am more than aware that this is nowhere near adequate from a prep point of views, but I do have an excellent instructor when I am at the actual places.
Many thanks for any advice.

If your sticking with the PS3 then only got to the latest Gran Turismo if you have afloat of HD space maybe 10-20gb free if not more. You'll then have the fun of when first getting the game killing your broadband for a day installing all the updates.
I miss the days of buying a complete game on a disc.

Well, GT6 is the latest GT, and includes the 3 tracks you mention.
Whilst I'm not convinced about it being a true sim, I can 100% agree that they help with learning the tracks.
You mention wheel and pedals... If you want a new set, I'd personally go for the thrustmaster t300rs. Not cheap, but more reasonable than the flagship t500rs. AFAIK the t300 is the only wheel currently 100% confirmed to work on ps4 aswell.

Perfect..this is very helpful. Having driven two of the three tracks, for sure it is not a full sim, I know, Still, having a clear visual memory eliminates one of the variables, though of course there is no way at this level to simulate track surface, elevations changes and so on.Whilst I'm not convinced about it being a true sim, I can 100% agree that they help with learning the tracks.

Big GT6 fan, though struggling for time on it. Their version of Spa and the 'Ring is impressive. Great for remembering where they go left and right. Spa is particularly impressive in the wet too.
Logitech G27s are good value at the moment. Logitech are phasing out their wheels. Mine still looks new after 3 years of pretty heavy usage.
Let us know (chuck me an email) if you fancy a race on PSN
. A few of us race on a Monday night, might work on a winters day.
