Seem to get an aweful lot of lag playing cod, I know I'm st, but I pretty much am certain I'm shooting someone, and then they kill me, is this lag on my set up and how do I cure it?
Would running a cable from the router instead of a wireless set up help? My Nat is open, as I think that's been mentioned before, this I know won't turn me into an executioner overnight, but its pretty frustrating getting shot to bits all the time when I know I got in first.

Isn't it more to do with ping than download speed?

That is what they say but I can assure you that when I've played with systems that have 5mbps I win so much more than when I play on my own 3mpbs system. I also experience a whole host of problems that I don't when using a 5mbps system.

Bandwidth is all about how much data you get get down the pipe, and in general games don't transmit vast amount of data.

Ping is the amount of time it takes for a signal to travel from the server to your machine (and vice versa), which is clearly critical for twitch-games like COD.

Furthermore, ping is simply terrible on wireless for many reasons, and it gets exponentially worse on congested wireless networks. Wired connections aren't subject to the same issues. It might not be the whole story, but in my book it's wired for online gaming, every time.

On virgin media and just done a speed test on my nexus7 also on wireless and have got
Ping 20 upload 1.12 and download 9.01

Varies wildly though as I've had massive differences depending on time and day etc when testing
