Ps4 hard drive upgrade question

Just got a ps4 and I wondred about upgrading the hardrive. I've not even unpacked it out its box and I've been reading various articles, they mention once the hard drive is installed you have to download the system information from a separate USB. Seems like bit of a hassle. Since I've not set it up anyway, if I installed a new hardrive before switching it on would everything just go through the normal set up from there?

No. You still need to download the new driver/update to USB. I definitely recommend upgrading the drive though. I, like many others, upgraded on day one and never turned the machine on with the smaller original drive in the machine.

I did mine on day one over a year ago, 1TB SSHD.

Me too, never even turned the PS4 with the original drive fitted. No hassle at all and there are detailed intructions on the Playstation site too if you do a search

Installed a 1Tb hybrid SSHD and it's been great so far, got it from Amazon IIRC
