As a relatively new convert to PS4 from a Xbox 360 I'm really disappointed how long it is taking Sony to sort out this whole 'hack' situation.
This company earns millions from PSN but it has been 72 hrs now without the service and don't seem to be able to offer an explanation of when it's coming back online.
Very tempted at the moment to flog this bookend and go and get an XbOne, as Microsoft have managed to get their service up and running ok.

To be fair xbox live was still suffering some problems yesterday despite what their service status says. I was still struggling at midnight last night.
Thanks for the CONSTRUCTIVE comment, I was under the impression they were ok, obviously not. Still don't get why they haven't sorted it on either machines though. Would hate to be in a household that has a child who got either console for Christmas and hasn't been able to play.rossmc88 said:
Why can't Sony and Microsoft design a robust network that can stay online permanently?
See http://youtu.be/BcDZS7iYNsATL;DR DDOS attacks are almost impossible to prevent if the attackers are determined enough.
If you look at http://map.ipviking.com/ it shows attacks going on, Since xmas day St Louis and Seattle have been getting whacked, I read that there are PSN servers in St Louis - if true its probably still being attacked.
Sony use https://www.cloudflare.com/ to help try and spot attacks, seems they aren't much help..
Sony say system is coming back up.. https://twitter.com/AskPlayStation/status/54875791...

Remember the good old days when you didn't need an Internet connection to play on your new games console...
everyones now going to tell you how you don't NEED an internet connection, games function without it. you're just missing out on the online features of most games.I empathise, OPer. I'd be fed up if I'd just paid lots for something and couldn't enjoy it properly.
Depends on the game. The Battlefield series is nothing without online access. Single player mode (aka Campaign mode) largely sucks.
OTOH Diablo 2 (yeah, showing my age) is great online but equally entertaining offline. I've also been playing quite a few phone games that have been great offline (Real Racing 3, Mage and Minions, Dungeon Hunter 4) - the developers only force you to use certain online features so that they can advertise at you but you can connect briefly then disconnect most of the time.

Yeah that's great well done. Of course when you produce the 'empirical evidence' to support you own assertion we'll know for sure eh?

Anyway, OP when are you returning your PS4? Oh your not really??? Quelle surprise.
