My son (7) is making noises about Disney Infinity for his Wii U.

He's had a good school report (the swot) so we've been having a look at what's what and it seems for about £40 you can get a starter pack with the game and some Marvel characters.

Question is, is what sort of game is it?

We play a lot of the "Lego" games and enjoy them, but I can't work out what you actually do in the Infinity game. I don't mind paying out £40 for something he'll use, but it grinds my gears paying money for something he wont.

Imagine "Lego Grand Theft Auto" but made by Disney, for kids...

We managed to avoid it on the Wii... IMHO it's a fad. It depends on how long you think your son will be in to it.. They just seem to churn out more and more of the figures. ltd. ed etc... It was all the rage for about 1 or 2 summers and then nothing more since. smile

I think it's actually two sorts of games in one. With the playsets you get an adventure based on the figures you have - normal platform kind of thing. But there is also the toy box, which is closer to a junior Minecraft - you build a world from scratch and populate it with a mashup of characters and films.

The figures you buy will then appear in the toy box world. You can also buy the power discs (much cheaper) and these give new items, textures, themes and powers in the toy box world.

Cheers chaps - sounds quite good to be honest & I think we'll have a go at this. He can buy any extra figures with his pocket money!
