Just bought the 500X Turtle Beach headset, and straight out of the box it tells you to update the firmware. Easier said than done, as every way I've tried it won't work.

I downloaded the Mac software to updating the firmware, version 1.0.8 as downloaded from the turtle beach website. That gets as far as 'Checking for Updates' stops just over halfway and won't budge, it does this wether the transmitter or receiver are plugged in or not, and it won't move any further. I then checked the App Store, strangely they have version 1.1.2. So I downloaded that and installed, it gets past the update screen, but it wont update the firmware of the TX or the RX when connected. So that's useless too. I even tried connecting the 2 devices in the recovery mode they have, no joy.

So I fired up my ancient old PC and tried the windows version of the software version 2.0.6 from the website. It won't recognise the TX or RX either, so I followed the instructions on the website to download the device drivers and installed those, no change. Still can't update the firmware. Tried recovery mode on that too. Nada.

I'm still using the headset, albeit with standard firmware, so it's not like they don't work.

Has anyone else managed to update them?

Thinking I could be clever, I just installed windows 8.1 as a virtual machine on my mac. Stops at the same point as my old windows machine. So no joy there. It's not specific to any machine, the errors the same.

Not that anyone replied! But for the sake of completion, I tried again this morning and it's updated without any issue. The servers must have been down. Telling me on the program would've been nice. Worked on both Mac and PC.
