I'm old, and remember the controversy caused by the fatality moves in the original Mortal Kombat.

I saw a video on another forum for this game of the fatalities in this game, they made for pretty uncomfortable viewing, pretty brutal stuff.

MK9 was great, hopefully this can carry on where that left off. Oh, and its got Predator in it. Should be brutal.

Really looking forward to this. Played a bit of it last year and if that is anything to go on the full game will be excellent.

I picked this up this morning, got the pre-order edition with the Goro DLC. I haven't delved into the actual game yet, I've been getting to grips in the training mode. I'll bulletpoint my thoughts so far.

  • A great roster with new characters that are actually good. An achievement for the brand as some of the new entrants over the years have been a bit cack.
  • Character variants that actually change the combat style of the characters, as well as altering their appearance.
  • A solid training mode with a separate fatality training mode.
  • Great graphics.
  • Faction mode adds a bit of depth, leveling up your character, contributing to the faction war. I notice that they've avoided the use of the word "klan" rofl
  • Brutalities are interesting, they are specific ways of ending a fight, performed under certain conditions, that turn a normal move or special move into an extra gory version, for one example Goro's flame breath turns them into a charred skeleton upon death.
  • Fatalities are brutal. Each one now works like a mini-cutscene that loads in as you execute it, it's very slick.
  • Characters now greet each other at the start of the fight, there are lots of cool little interactions that fans of the older games will get a laugh from. For example, Johnny Cage says to Goro "You owe me a new pair of glasses", referencing the first MK film where Goro smashes Johnny's glasses.
  • The environments are very nice to look at.
  • The original cast are now old, which is cool. Liu Kang has grey hair etc.

More to follow, but this looks set to be a great landmark in the franchise.
