My mam cleared some of my stuff out, so I thought I would have a little go on the N64, and I don't remember it being as bad. Very bitty and jerky, I always remembered it as great I suppose it just getting used to better stuff.so had a go on goldeneye, Zelda and F1

I have been playing the Xbox version of Colin McRae 2005 on my 360, and the frame rate is awful, graphics blocky, and the cars behave very weirdly over bumps!

Depends on the game - a lot of 3d titles have dated more than 2d ones since by now we're all so used to modern twin stick controls. I find it hard to play Goldeneye now because of the aiming controls, but have no trouble with Perfect Dark on the 360 since it's been updated. The likes of Mario Kart, Gran Turismo and Doom still play brilliantly though

That could just be the console. The KotOR games run like ste on the 360.

Here's my set up in the den;

Of all of those it's the N64 which has lost most of its appeal. The Master System is great. The graphics were always crap so they had to rely on gameplay to entertain and it's still does by the bucket load. The same for the SNES and the Mega Drive. They weren't relying on wowing the player as it's not really possible in 16-bit. The exceptions here are games like Starfox and Stunt Race FX. This pushed the SNES to the boundaries of what it could do, but it was still wireframe and the games have suffered with age because of that.

The N64 is good for MarioKart, but I can't play Goldeneye as it's so annoying. I spent months on that game as a young teenager. A mate and I would spend whole weekends killing each other in multiplayer. I was a master at it. Now it pretty much hurts my eyes to play the first part of the first level.

Many old games still have all their charm. It's the ones that were groundbreaking for graphics at the time that are crap now as we expect so much more.
