I'm really struggling here. My 8 year old son and I play Minecraft together - but I can't think of another game suitable across the age boundaries?

He's not in to football, so Fifa isn't much good. Forza is just to complicated for a kid that age. I want something fun for the family...? So many games are about blood and guts (which is fine when I'm on my own!) - but there's so little to suit everyone.

Lego games.

Star Wars, Marvel, Batman, Hobbit, movie etc etc. A good mix of co-op, puzzle, exploration and fighting (they explode into lego bits). I play with my 5yo on the Wii.

That's the problem - he's finished them all on the Wii (but a good suggestion!)

Forza Horizon 2. My 9 year old just loves driving around the countryside with his friends. They can play games like king which is like tag and just race around without bothering about lap times, setups etc. There is a lot of contact racing and offroad and you can drive through vineyards and cafes etc.

The only downside is that it is local singleplayer only but you can do time trials etc and help each other design car styles. Online you can join friends.

worth looking into Fable series?

Not sure how young you could go with it.... has a lovely story line, adult jokes (that kids wont get), kids jokes and its just button smashing combat with no bloody iirc.

I thoroughly enjoyed 2 and 3

ETA: crap. just seen XB1.. sorry!

what about trials HD evolution? great fun rag doll style motorcross
