Is anyone getting this or vagueley excited at all? I haven't bought an F1 game in ages but this comes out on Friday (10th July) and looks rather good.

I have always had a dream regarding F1 games, in that I won't ever be happy until I see this: A crash happens, safety car comes out and on the following lap at the crash site whilst driving through, I witness animated marshals clearing up debris and sweeping the track whilst a crane or truck hoists or tows the cars.

We can make GTA V, surely we can simply have animated marshals?!

Anyway, it looks pretty good, particularly the footage I've seen of Singapore at night.

I've pre ordered it. I completely agree with you though. When you compare it to the likes of GTA and the detail they have in that, Not being able to stick a crane and clean up crew in the game does seem pretty poor. Hopefully this one won't disappoint.

I have a feeling this is going to be as lame as MotoGP 15 turned out to be.

Your dream sounds like Geoff Crammond grand prix, which had animated marshalls pushing cars off the track back in the 90's!! Didn't go as far as cranes moving cars off track etc though. I still boot it up every now and then, Grand prix 4 is possibly the most immersive grand prix game i've ever played. It's a shame that the series stopped after 4 as by now with current technology i think it would have the features you want.

I'd love to have a proper spectator mode, or some sort of first person mode out the car where you can walk around the track in first person as if you were watching the event. Also, full support race series in the game, and more of a sense of a 'living world' rather than crowds waving their arms around at the side of the track that look like they have been superglued in place.

Exactly - when you think of all the incidental things that are going on in any given gamespace in GTA V or Assassins Creed for example, surely it cannot be beyond the realms of possibility to animate a few marshals.

Canada could even have animated Groundhogs to dodge!

Another thing I've noticed with the more recent footage - they have re-liveried the McLaren so it's the changed livery instead of the poor early-season one that featured in the early game footage.

I read a review somewhere where it's saying its a paired down version of the previous titles. I was looking forwards to
It but it looks like another next gen half arsed effort.

Bought this yesterday for the PS4.

Excellent game BUT - The PS4 struggles to cope with the graphics and does alot of stuttering/juddering.

Cars seem to handle well and it seems realistic, only did a couple of races as didn't get home from work till late.

You do need to manage your fuel and tyres
You get advised on settings to change during the race which is cool for example fuel mode, brake bias
1 shot qualifying is good if your not doing full sessions.
You can scrub sets of tyres etc and if you go off track dirt sticks to them until it clears.
Flashback mode is handy if you've had a long race and make a mistake.
The AI can be pretty brutal if your in the wrong track position but this makes it good as you have to think about your overtakes etc.

Gives you the opportunity to play 2014 season or 2015.

That sounds most annoying. I had expected to see almost perfection with the power of the PS4.

I'll try stick a video up later, i found it happens most when you look behind you then come back to the front view it jitters a wee bit.

I'm sure there will be a patch of some sort very soon.

Excellent game, the AI actually race you and take chances, however sometimes they do hit you. I was doing FP1 in China on the last corner and Rosberg took me out - he did get a grid penalty though.

It looks superb on PC, it handles well, the racing is exciting and I do like the championship mode. I really like how to can watch other cars from your pit box, that's a cool touch.

I've seen a lot of issues being raised on the code masters forums, but I haven't experienced any issues apart from when I was trying to lap a Manor there didn't appear to be any blue flags and I ended up racing Mehri to get past.

It's worse in the chase view because there is more action on the screen than in the cockpit view where the cockpit takes up some of the screen. The processor is working harder in chase view, particularly when there are lots of cars on the track or during a crash.

Unfortunately the answer will probably be a cap to the frame rate.

Well I still haven't got my pre-ordered copy yet, I'm sure it will arrive on Monday, just in time for going back to work frown.

I've been reading some reviews and it seems like they've got rid of the safety car altogether, removed split screen racing, taken away career mode and got rid of the classic F1 cars.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I thought they said that F1 2014 was just a bare-bones update as they were focusing all their efforts on super duper, bells & whistles next gen 2015 game. Erm, so what exactly have they been doing for the last 2 years then apart from churning out a stripped down 2014 and seemingly an even more stripped down 2015?

I mean the inclusion of the Manor team and McLaren's new livery only came via a day 1 patch!
