Xbox Accounts - Please Help
Discussion
Hi Guys
Getting myself into a mess with Xbox accounts and looking for some advice please!
I have an old gamertag/Microsoft account back from when I first purchased an Xbox 360 many years ago.
When I first purchased an Xbox one last year, I made a new account for some reason, rather than using my existing gamertag.
However now I want to go back to my old gamertag. No problem...except I have an Xbox Live subscription active on the new gamertag which doesn't expire for another 15 months(!) and I also have a digital copy of a game which I purchased on the new gamertag which I don't want to pay for again.
Microsoft tell me that I can't transfer my Xbox Live membership from the new account to the old one 'because it was activated more than 30 days ago' - not sure why that's relevant but three separate representatives have now all told me it's not possible, so I accept defeat.
That's no biggie as the way I understand it, as long as there is one active Xbox Live membership on the console, any gamertags can game online, so I can still sign into the OLD account on the console and get online even though the Xbox Live membership is associated with the NEW account. Can someone confirm that's definitely the case? I'd imagine so as if you had 5 kids you'd spend your life savings on Xbox Live memberships if they all had different gamertags....
So my plan would be to use the OLD gamertag but leave the new one 'present' on the console until the subscription runs out in 15 months, then delete/remove the new account from the console, and take out a new Xbox Live membership on the old gamertag.
So that just leaves the game - is there any way around this? Can I somehow transfer the 'rights' for that game from my new gamertag/account to the old one?
Thanks.

Any content purchased on one account is linked to that account forever, there is no transfers, refunds etc.
I have 2 accounts also, one from xbox 360 and one for the xbox 1, I just share the xbox gold with the other account and everything is available, once the 15 months is up, change over the "my home console" and then you can revert back to the other one.
bingo bango....

But presumably that means that I will have to leave the new gamertag logged into the console for ever in order to play the game that I bought on that gamertag? not always, I have a few accounts on my box where I have purchased content from various sources, I have my main account that I use and 9 times out of 10 I don't need to sign in with the other to play content,
but now and again, xbox signs everyone out so then you have to sign that account to re-authenticate the account.
its no biggie just a little untidy..
