Which TV for games?
Discussion
Turns out the PS4 has shown the inadequacy of my 8 year old Panasonic Plasma TV 37 incher!
I saw it being played in store and it looked incredible, it looks pretty average on my tv and I feel like I'm having to get real close to the screen to make everything out! With that in mind, I want a new TV, however, due to being limited by a fireplace to the right of the TV I think I can only get away with 47" or less with a very thin bezel, I've just measured and I'm sitting around 95 inches from the set, so not sure which size would be best for me?
Any recommendations for best sets with games in mind at 47" or less?

Yeh, I think I've had a good run, that was a decent TV when I bought it, but now things have changed.
I think I'll have a read on some sites. And then go and visit John Lewis or Selfridges to have a look in the flesh. I think whatever I buy will be a big upgrade from what I have, but might as well make sure it lasts.

Primarily you'll want to look at or check the input lag of any TV, I can't recommend a specific one but there are a lot of tests of various sets.

Bought a 42" LG Ultra HD Smart about 6 months ago for £400. Worth every penny, especially with built-in 4K upscaling.
As someone mentioned above, input lag is important and check to see if the TV has a 'gaming mode'. Some of the TV engines and post-effects/tweaks can make gaming look laggy or tear. My TV has a gaming setting that turns all that junk off to remove the lag.
While on the subject of gaming and LG; their 3D TV's have a feature called Dual Play that allows you to overlay the split screen effect onto the whole screen. You then use the 3D glasses to filter out your partners screen and just show yours. Very cool if you have kids or do multiplayer games with people at home.

Yesterday I replaced my 8 year old Panasonic Viera Plasma, with a Samsung UE50JU6800. The shop had this TV hooked up to a PS4, which is what convinced me to get it, the games looked stunning and the flow of the movement on Battlefield was amazing.
I've only had a quick go on GTA last night on it myself and it feels like a completely new game just down to the TV.
I only ever intended on replacing it with another Panasonic, but seeing this one and the difference its made is well worth it.
