Sebastien Loeb Rally Evo
Discussion
So has anyone pre ordered it?
The handling feels great in the practice arena but when I do a stage is just doesn't feel the same. Has anyone tweeted the setup of the car and made it better?
It's no Dirt rally but the car selection is good and it maybe a fun game to play until Dirt arrives on consoles in April.

Played the demo on ps4 and not my cup of tea. Feels like all rally games ive played before with the car on a turntable if that makes sense to anyone.
Yeah I agree with what you're saying - I found DiRT 2/3 to be a lot better and that respect, and eagerly await the arrival of DiRT Rally to consoles after the reviews it's got from people I know who race on PCAdamST said:

A friend has pre-ordered this for me as belated Xmas present. I agree, the handling on gravel feels great but, on the stage feels strange. Having said that, tarmac stages have never really been the strong point of rally games, the loose stuff is where its at The handling feels great in the practice arena but when I do a stage is just doesn't feel the same. I'm getting it regardless so, I'll be sure to post my thoughts/experience with it when it arrives.

I look forward to hearing you're thoughts. Well I've caved and pre ordered it, it's certainly going to be better than wrc5 and will fill my rallying needs till dirt comes out.

A few friends have looked at this and said it suffered the same as PRoject Cars with terrible controls. With looking at the online videos it looks a bit like something I'd expect back when I had Colin McRae on the PS2.
In my experience, the handling in PCars is excellent. It does need a bit of fettling if using a wheel though, and each car has to be set up individually to get the best out of it.Back on topic, I'm less concerned with how the game looks and more concerned with how it feels. Having said that, the graphics are already way better than WRC 5.
I only played the demo briefly, spending 5 mins or so in the test arena and completing the stage only once in each of the 3 cars. I'm reserving judgement until I've spent some time with the full game and will report back.
The handling is crap. The cars feel slow to turn, very hard to adjust mid-turn and the camera tracks the cars absolutely, you can't turn the camera to let the car rotate slightly off axis before it starts to track the car, which creates a jarring and unusual visual effect. Big mistakes for a rally game, I won't be buying. A shame, as it had potential.
Well I've tried the full game and.....
Either my xbone is broken or the frame rate is that bad it's unplayable! It's like I'm trying to run it on an original Xbox.
Did the first stage in career ( Sanremo) In a pug 106 and it was fine, then tried Austrailia in the same car and it's horrific. Also tried other stages and cars and it's still as bad.
Don't know wether to preserve or take it back.

Online reviews I've read so far seem mostly positive. Did those of you who didn't like it use only the default settings or did you play around a bit? Were you using a controller or wheel?
I hope it turns out to be decent but, if it doesn't, at least I didn't have to pay for it I suppose.

Used controller, there wasn't any alternative controls to use so felt odd, car didn't handle well, not very resopnsive and when in the timetrial/practice mode i crashed into a large rock, burst a tire and was stuck in mid air with only one wheel on the ground. The developers must play Dirt Rally and be so dissaponted going into work knowing this is what they have turned out. keep your money
Isn't that a bit quick for icy conditions? - https://youtu.be/PdxN2KA_xtk?t=10

Not my money happily - a friend has pre-ordered it for me so, I'll be trying out the full game for free. I use a wheel and usually play around with the settings quite a bit so, once it arrives (next week some time with any luck), I'm hoping I'll get some fun out of it
Right, I've spent about 6 hours with the full game now and thought I would post my first impressions.
In a nutshell, so far this game is amazing! I cannot remember the last time I had so much fun! The problem I had with the demo more than anything, was that the cars didn't seem to have much weight to them. There was a 6gb day one patch to download and, it really seems to have fixed everything!
Bear in mind that I use a wheel (Thrustmaster T300RS) so, cannot comment on how the game plays with a controller. Also, so far I have only used rookie vehicles but, I have to say, the handling and physics feels absolutely spot on! Each vehicle feels completely different to one another (which they should), even the steering angle is unique to each car, although that can be fixed if you prefer. I haven't needed to fiddle around with the settings at all yet apart from cranking up the force feedback and vibration settings (100% and 85% respectively) and turning off all the assists. Other than that, the default settings feel really good! The tweaking and fettling side of it will be fun but, really isn't needed out of the box.
The graphics to me seem absolutely fine. Perhaps they're not as polished as some of the AAA titles but quite honestly, when I'm immersed in the experience of driving, I really don't care
I've uploaded an example here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQyXA01wYuY
(Please excuse the driving, I am aware there is room for improvement!!)

There is also loads of stuff to do and I have barely scratched the surface so far! The driving itself is so satisfying that I can see myself replaying every stage in every class with all the cars available - I don't think longevity going to be a problem.
Based on my first impressions, I would give the game a very solid 7/10. If the multiplayer with friends works as well as I hope it will, that will very easily be bumped up to an 8/10. I think it is a shame that it hasn't got more press as it may be dismissed by many people who would probably enjoy it as much as me!
