We got a PS4 recently. No idea how this Disney thing works. If I get my girl the Olaf character is that all I need, or is there a DVD required too?

You really need to buy one of the starter packs which include characters, the base which connects to the PS4 and the game disc. Then set aside money for when the child gets bored of the original character set and wants new ones.

No the base remains as a constant. Plugs into a usb port at the front. There is room on the base for two characters and some sort of upgrade crystal.

Each of the characters comes from a certain playset. This is the story that they play in when they are placed on the base.

The story is very easy to complete in a short period of time.

The rest of the game is based around constructing your own worlds with the huge range of landscapes and different "toys" to place in it.

To be honest my 9 year old hasn't really got into this bit yet so I don't know how good it will be. It doesn't look that easy but I guess kids have better imaginations. If the PS4 is connected to the internet then you can download worlds that other people have created and play in them.
