WTF IS THIS SHEET!! (YOUTUBE)
Discussion
So I uploaded a clip of me playing Star wars battlefront to my youtube account the other day and today I receive a copyright notice saying that the song "Ben kenobis death" is copyright content and any ads that show on my youtube will be from the owners of the song.
So basically as well as promoting their game for them I'm earning them revenue as well!
Sorry but that's not on. I bought the game and i'll do what the f
k I want with it. I'll probably delete it off youtube out of sheer principle as who the hell is going to watch my video based off of what music is in it (baring in mind it's background music in the game)

Or the younger are gonna give me mad cred for my channel because it features SW music?
Why would the game allow you to upload the clip in the first place? It doesn't say that they will earn money off of it if you do nor is there an option to remove the music in game.
I'm essentially promoting them even though I've paid for their content yet they then have the cheek to charge for ads
Wouldn't have happened under George Lucas. f

I think you're over estimating the affect on sales your video will have on a 8 month old game that nobody is really playing anymore.Or the younger are gonna give me mad cred for my channel because it features SW music?

The thing is the song is hardly in the video and it's not from beginning to end. Also if that's copyright surely the gun and effect sounds should be copyright too! It's not like I'm trying to market the video as a free download tool for the song because I'm not!
Do you have a licence to broadcast the song? No.Did you broadcast the song? Yes.
You are in the wrong. They claim the ad revenue. You signed up to the rules. You don't like them? Stop using the platform.
Grow up. Move on.
Do a google and you will find a lot of discussion regarding this exact thing - its causing ALOT of friction at the moment. Companies have even taken to copyright claiming footage of a game - Nintendo are particular bad on this. In most instances the copyright claim process is automatic and done by Youtube. In some instances original content has been copyright claimed by people other than the owner, and due to the naff way Youtube assigns copyright and advertising revenue its possible for people to essentially hijack channels and make money from it.
It's all their contentID automated system. Owners of music copyright upload their samples and they get cross checked against any uploaded videos.
In this case it may be that the owner of the music copyright isn't the same person as the owner of the game sounds or the game itself (I don't know how the licencing was set up in this case)
So don't take it personally and you've probably been caught up in a broad net. Legally you're unlikely to have a leg to stand on so not much point in complaining.
Did you chose to put adverts on it? I did see a video where a bloke found a loophole - he didn't want any videos on his video and he wasn't so much angry that they would get the revenue but more that they would force adverts on his viewers. Anyway IIRC if you put multiple infringing music on the video they don't assign it to anyone or something.

To the OP - this might give you some idea of how big and issue it is and how it affects people who make a living from publishing content.

True but if you bought the milk and someone else took a tiny bit for their tea would you be that bothered? I mean considering you earn billions from shafting people I mean it's a small price to pay.
Let's put this into context all I uploaded was a video of me playing a game. I didn't steal the game in fact I bought it and paid for the extra content too!

As mentioned earlier - you didn't buy the game, you bought a licence to play it. There is a difference you are not quite grasping. You don't own it, you don't have the right to do anything with it.Let's put this into context all I uploaded was a video of me playing a game. And I don't earn billions!
