Xbox Play Anywhere info

Hi guys,

Just after some information regarding the Windows 10/Xbox cross over.

I have an xbox account from years ago but do not own an xbox. I understand that I can buy the Play Anywhere games on the xbox Windows application and play them on the PC. However do you know if I need Xbox live to play online? I am very tempted to pre order Forza Horizon 3 as I haven't played any car collecting games for a long time. Just want to make sure I can actually play it online etc with my mates.

I also assume that these will be automatically cross platform as well?

If I understand Play Anywhere setup, you should be able get it working like this.

Get Xbox live on your old account, then sign in to the Xbox app on Windows 10 to use it on your PC with Play Anywhere games.

You can play Xbox/windows 10 games online for free on the pc, you don't need a gold membership.

In terms of cross-ply, that is developer specific, and even mode specific. As an example gears 4 will allow cross play in co-op modes but not competitive multiplayer as mouses have an advantage...
