C&C Generals On Windows 10?
Discussion
I had to get a new laptop as my old one finally died, unfortunately it doesn't seem to like the game. I've got it installed along with the Zero Hour add on but I can't get it to run and I don't know why. It worked fine on Windows 7 and I realise 10 is a long way forward of that but surely it should be easier for it to run an older game? Any suggestions folks?
if you play hunt the solution from saint google it will tell you that you need to run it in the correct compatibility mode;
to do this go to the exe in your program files- right click, properties, compatibility tab, then choose which version of windows to run it in (for gens it'll be something like 7 or even XP).
but are they right? are they f
k! Though some people have reported it working this way, I cannot seem to get it or the original NFS: Underground to work
I will set it up that way then I just get a blank screen. This is the same for GTA: San Andreas/Vice City too
Good luck

I just get a pop up saying 'please log in with administrator privileges and try again'
They better get on with making a new one!
I've just had a quick look online.
They better get on with making a new one!Seems it is an issue with a windows update that conflicts with some of the authorisation software written into older games; Civilization IV being another.
I found this forum that discusses the issue around Civ IV:

This statement in particular is interesting; might be worth a go:

I had the same problem when I played command and conquer, you have to find and uninstall this update, KB3086255, then restart your computer, this should take care of the problem
I'm assuming that update (KB3086255) is a windows update reference.Alternative solution is to buy them again. I picked the whole Universe pack up on Origin for £10 about 6 months ago and it all runs fine.
HTH anyway

Thanks for the technical bit, don't really want to be uninstalling stuff though, so I went and bought it on origin, currently £6.49 for the universe pack. I also bought Crysis deluxe pack, BF4 and Hardline.... I shouldn't be allowed near sales! Gassing Station | Video Games | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
