Puggit jnr is turning 10 soon and like many boys his age, loves to hide in his room and watch other people playing games.

He has asked for some kit to start recording his own videos for his birthday. We have both an Xbox One and various laptops - his is quite low spec, but I have an ex-work machine with plenty of grunt.

Anyone have suggestions on some sort of starter kit to get him going?

Thanks!

Just like you, my lad had been pestering me to buy him an 'Elgato game capture HD' device for ages. I finally gave in a few weeks ago.

Seems to do the job. He tells me that it's the 'one to have'

You can stream direct to twitch but not record unlimited gameplay.
Clips are limited to around 10 seconds on the "record that" feature from what I remember.

Laptop - is it AMD or Nvidia, if it's Nvidia it might have GeForce Experience Shadowplay which can record on the fly what you are playing. It may work it may not work on all games, all the ones I have tried either doesn't record sound of plays back at twice the speed. But the same games work for other people, bit hit and miss at the moment but if it works it's probably the best one to use for it's simplicity. There is also (PC laptop) Overwolf that does game recording and the more basic FRAPS.

Overwolf - http://store.overwolf.com/app/Overwolf-Game_Captur...

In a similar situation but know nothing about these and need to source a laptop which will cope. Can anyone advise whether something like this will do the job or is something with significantly more grunt required?

Thanks
