Anyone pre ordered an Xbox One S?
Discussion
As an existing Xbox One owner I wasn't going to bother, but as I was going to buy FIFA17 anyway it seemed to make sense.
£249 including the game (so £200 for the console really) plus Quidco cash back - and sold my current console for £175.
So £25 to swap an out of warranty X1 for a new X1S with warranty and which should have a higher resale value down the line.
Rude not to

I'm thinking of jumping back into console ownership.
Sold my 360 2 years ago.
So where are the best S deals currently?
IS this console I want.... I know Scorpio is being touted for late 2017 but i think that might be a bit pricey for me and I want something now.
No talk of xbox 2 is there?

There has been a lot of talk about "ending" the generations of consoles and moving to more frequent hardware refreshes, whilst the games will stay forwards and backwards compatible.Sold my 360 2 years ago.

So there is no talk of "Xbox 2" where it would be a brand new launch and none of the old games would work. The new S model, and Project Scorpio, which comes out next year, are all planned to run current xbox one games (plus BC 360 games). Certainly to start with, all new games will also be expected to run on the current Xbox and S...i.e. there won't be "Scorpio only" games next year.
The S is a good price and if you have an MS/360 background I would recommend getting it now, and then wait and see about Scorpio next year - relatively little is known about it so far.
There is only a Fifa 17 bundle at the moment - there will be a Gears of War 4 bundle at some point, plus I'm sure there will be others in the run up to Christmas....so whether you buy right now or in 1-2 months time depends on how much you like Fifa and how much you want to wait for the absolute best bundle pre-christmas.

Yeah I preordered as I always buy Fifa so it was a no brainer, that and them giving me £50 for my 360 as part of the dealSo there is no talk of "Xbox 2" where it would be a brand new launch and none of the old games would work. I think the GoW bundles have all sold out as they were 2TB special edition ones
FWIW I was advised by a mate to get the 500Gb as I would fill up that or a 1TB pretty quickly but external storage is cheaper.

Ah! good knowledge on the GoW bundle. I have external storage and it's pretty good, so I wouldn't bother paying the extra for the internal drive. I got a 2TB 2.5" drive so that it could be powered by the USB port and I wouldn't have to have another power supply....was more fussed about that then the extra speed from a 3.5" "proper" drive.Dan_1981 said:

I'll keep my eyes open though!
Yeah - I think it's a default MS/EA thing...we need a bundle in Europe...they like soccer...right!? OK - Fifa - done!

It seems Amazon have some still but yeah an extra £150 for 1.5tb of storage and some red paint is a bit of an ask IMOYeah - I think it's a default MS/EA thing...we need a bundle in Europe...they like soccer...right!? OK - Fifa - done!
I'll be doing the same as you I think with the External.
I was surprised they did the launch with Fifa as whilst I love it I know many people didnt.
For anyone else who is considering, if you trade in a 360 you get a guaranteed £50 from Game as part of the pre-order vs the £30 they normally give
So man maths to me says "I always buy Fifa anyway at appx £50 and I am getting a £50 trade in" so One S for £150

£199 with FIFA17 apparently if anyone's interested:

Thanks for the head-up, ordered. That's despite also taking advantage of Prime day recently for a 500GB XBone with Kinect for £250 http://www.trustedreviews.com/news/this-is-the-bes...

Decided it was worth it for the 4k blu ray player

Now have 3 x XB360s, 2 x XBones and a XBone S - wife will flip! (but my boys will be delighted)
