Hi, I can't get certain parts of the game to work, disc drive working hard and there are some scratches on it. If I get a new disc, will it work seamlessly with my save game data or will there be a clash?

It'll work fine.

Don't forget you've already bought a licence to use the software. The physical disk is almost inconsequential.

If you write off to the publisher they may provide a replacement disk.

(worked for me in the past!)

does it matter if mine was an anniversary edition disc and the new one won't be though?

It doesn't! Just put the new disc in and it is downloading all the updates and installing them, so looks like it is starting all over again.

Hope I can import the old save data somehow.

That's normal?

When the game is loaded it'll look to your original save files and everything will (should) be as it was.

The information on the disk(s) is all the same. I mean, I'm not a developer for Polyphony but I'm fairly sure the extras that came with the original game would have been downloaded. It doesn't make sense to print different copies of the disk. And, if they have, the extras you originally bought would surely be stored separate to the core game engine... which will look to your original save game all the same.

But the game is already on my machine, so why is it installing it all again?!

Disks are regional - and i'm not talking about region locks on the disk itself - minute differences in the game between US/EU/Germany/UK etc. If you're using one that differs from your original region that's why it's installing again. Check the SCE number to determine the regions. I had this with MGS...

it did a full reinstall, but the saved game data is working ok. Suspect there is a lot of disk space being wasted but too scared to delete one of them
