Ok must admit, bit of a click bait title, but sort of true.

They are adding a new account status, that is none subscription, and means you can long in and play anytime but are limited to your characters races Tech 1 frigates, Destroyers & cruisers and are limited to 5million skill points.

Interesting turn of events, anyone interested in play but didn't want to pay a subscription should definitely check it out, tech1 frigates, destroyers and cruisers are good fun (I have over 100m SP and usually find my self dicking around in tech1 frigs and dessies) the way the game scales frigates particularly (specifically ewar, tackle & logi) are always welcome in most fleet no matter the doctrine.

What are people thoughts?

Could possibly interest me. I've signed up on a couple of occasions, but after a few months lose interest so cancel my subscription. Not prepared to pay for something I might only play a few hours a month.

I found it excruciatingly dull, lasted long enough to know it wasn't for me.
A good move for people wanting to try though.

Personally I think it's a good job of going F2P without breaking existing mechanics and players. I'm still playing (albeit quiet over summer as normal) and can't wait for the influx of extra players

Its about the interactions with other players and team work etc than just the game itself.

Yup, it's the interactions with other than makes it, otherwise it's just The Real Space Mining Simulator.
