Bioshock Collection (PS4)
Discussion
Hi all,
Has anyone picked up Bioshock Collection on the PS4? It was released on Friday 16th of September.
I have all of the collectors editions on PS3 but was just about to get round to playing them when this came out.
Enjoying Bioshock 1 at the moment. Settings on Hard with no auto aim is definitely challenging.
Updated graphics and detail looks great. Atmospherics and sound all top notch.
Anyone else giving this a go? Tesco Direct at £32 is about as cheap as I have seen it. I bought it from Argos at £33.99 as I wanted it now. Game sell it for £39.99.
Cheers,
Steven RW

I'm interested in it but I'll wait for it to pop up in a sale to get it. Still feel it's a bit of a rip off to pay full price for shined up versions of old games.
Hi,I appreciate the point. £32 isn't really full price for three full games with all the DLC. Would you agree?
I bought all three versions with full DLC second hand for my PS3 collection. It cost more than £32.

I originally had no intention on getting this, however having read Edge's '100 greatest modern games' mag on a flight this weekend, I'm tempted to dive (fnar fnar) back in. Loved 1, never played 2, Infinite was enjoyable enough but I never played the Burial at Sea DLC. Might wait a while for it to drop in price though; tempted by Uncharted 4 also which should be available as pre-owned by now.
Due to a period of either only Counter Strike Source, or no gaming at all, I missed tonnes of great games. I hadn't played any of the Uncharted and bought the Nathan Drake collection second hand for £20. Money very well spent IMO.
Same with Bioshock. I played about the first 30 mins when at a Lan party but parked it after that and so this is all feeling new to me and great value for money in terms of amount of gaming vs cost.
Second hand price of say £20, if I had been willing to wait.. would have made this even better.
I have to say the game is rather hard. If I stick to the melee combat, I can't seem to dodge so I take lots of hits and without aim assist the speed of movement of the enemy means I struggle to headshot with a Ps4 controller.
I'm addicted to winning the hacking mini games.. :-)

Yep! Got it on release day and enjoying it just as much second time round.
I bet if I fired up the PS3 it would look poor by comparison, but it doesn't look quite as glorious as I'd hoped. It does look good, but I spend as much time looking out the windows as I do actually playing so I notice these things
Still, the atmosphere, characters and setting is what makes Bioshock, even if the shooting mechanics are a bit loose.
Last time I murdered all the Little Sisters. This time I'm being a good samaritan.
I was one of the few who preferred No2 to the original, so be interesting to see if that's still the case on second play through.
I'm playing on the second hardest difficulty and it's not bad at all. Ammo is in abundance, apart from post Big Daddy fights.

You've got to hack every machine whether you need anything or not, it's the law!!RW
I played it quite a bit further last night. Really enjoying it. I am playing on the "Hard - you have played A LOT of shooter games". I expect you are on the same.
The next level up is "Something - where every bullet counts" or other.. :-)
I'm not sure what you were expecting but I think it looks grand. I also spend time looking out the window and watching what is going on in the water. I liked at the start where I looked out and watched suitcases raining down from the plane crash above. Very cool.
When I picked my copy up the guy at the counter was a big bioshock fan and said that the second one is the pick of the bunch. I'll work my way there and see. :-)
Cheers

My feeling, the better game of the three. Though I can replay and enjoy them all quite happily.
Bioshock 2 got a lot of flack because plot-wise they just jammed it into the story and the original game had a really satisfying, definite conclusion. So from that point of view it didn't need a sequel. I think people would have preferred a prequel. However as a game it was great ... more of Rapture with it's amazing aesthetic and feel, but with improved gameplay mechanics and tweaks.
I'm now quite a few hours in. I have taken the photos of the three scary enemies that crawl on the ceiling and looking for a family in a submarine.
Playing on hard means thinking a bit more about the strategy. Hacking items to assist you etc.
I've noted that I don't seem well enough equipped to really take on the big daddies.
Atmosphere is great with so many of the voice recording tapes that talk you through more of the story.

I'm just past that bit now, on normal mode though. Big daddies don't like armour piercing rounds. My strategy is to tool up with those. Hack a turret or two and if I've got em, drop some proximity mines in that area. Shoot daddy and run back to the turrets. Whilst he's busy attacking those and getting blown up by the mines, I let him have it.Playing on hard means thinking a bit more about the strategy. Hacking items to assist you etc.

I've just arrived in Fort Frolic.
Had a glitch moment where i killed all the required splicers but the door didn't open. So i had to re-load. Otherwise so far it's been great.
I haven't got a drill to upgrade. I've got (according to the weapon wheel..) all the other weapons. The amount of other "areas" of my character and his skills and weapons you can upgrade is quite something. Initially a bit daunting but I just got on with it :-).
Really enjoying the exploration and challenge. Continue to think the tape recordings are class. So many of them mean you are keeping up with several peoples stories as you go.
Made the mistake of killing a couple of big daddies without the little girls around so that is potentially lots of threat andd ammo and not so much benefit :-).
Some of the hacking scenarios are nigh on impossible but you just keep attempting them over and over and eventually you find a solution to the tough ones.
Great game :-)

Just completed Bioshock 1 last night. Really enjoyed that. The theme and all the little aspects and touches to go with it. The audio files that really develop the story and the characters. Add to that playing it on hard so that you need to hack items and get them to work with you rather than just running around confidently gunning it up.
Great.
I'll take a break and then get on to part 2.
Cheers,

Holy Thread Resurrection!
I've started playing Bioshock recently as it was a freebie on PS Plus. I've been aware of the game for years but never really thought it would be my thing, but as a massive fan of Fallout 3 I'm quite liking it for it's similarities.
It keeps s
tting me up though, which I don't like! A game hasn't given me goosebumps for a while!
Anyone else pick the collection up recently?
