Highly annoying. Got an email yesterday saying that my login ID (i.e. email address tied to my PSN account) had changed. I assumed it was phishing nonsense and continued on my day.

Logged in to my PS4 tonight to improve my position on the Project Cars challenge leaderboard (from 1st place to more 1st place) and I could not sign in. It asked me for email and password. Entered. Nope. Requested Password reset email but rejected my email address.

Hugely annoyed as my debit card is tied to that account. No unexpected purchases but I am just waiting on the day. I need to contact my bank.

Even more annoying, can't email Sony (out of hours when I found out...) because it doesn't recognise the Email and PSN ID combination....well fking DUH.

Vented.

Have you phoned them?

10:30 to 19:00 Monday to Saturday.

When I first got a PS4 I used a made-up email address and password to test the system. Like a genius, I ended up using it and buying games off the store. I then deleted the password and obviously couldn't re-set it as the email address didn't exist. I ended up calling them and getting it sorted through sending them a picture of my passport. They were able to change the email address to one that exists and reset the password. I assume they cross referenced my name with my PayPal details or similar.

It's a pain in the ass ain't it?

Mine got hacked around a year ago, money taken out, I disputed it and ended up with my PSN account blocked for weeks. Eventually got it sorted by calling them and having a bit of a paddy!!

PSN has two factor authentication now. No excuse for anyone to get hacked.

My lad's PSN got hacked a few weeks back. £120 spent 'cos the dumbarse had linked his PSN wallet to his bank card meaning no need to verify payments once hacked into account.

He ended up phoning them, having to send proof of identity etc..., but did get the money's refunded to his bank after a few days.

All just a bit of a PITA and lucky they didn't play too hard ball.

I've seen people have this experience and Sony refuse any refunds, claiming on credit card etc resulted in a permanent ban so I think you guys did well to get your money back.

I think the best way to go is not have a card linked at all, just buy the codes in a shop or off amazon etc to add funds. I rarely buyou games but I do this for the psn subscription.
