Budget gamepads for PC
Discussion
Ive had Xbox's for years and not had one for a year now. I do have a reasonably quick laptop though and wouldnt mind a controller to play a few games on - Fifa, a couple of old FPS' etc. I'm not good with mouse and keys so fancy a cheap gamepad. Any recommendations on what will play on Win10 without issue? I dont want to be faffing about too much with trying to get drivers to work!

An Xbox 360 wired controller plugs right in and will work flawlessly. I got one of these for forza, http://www.argos.co.uk/product/5065514 really good pad!
Not Windows 10 specific, but I use a wired Xbox One controller on my Windows 7 machine and it works with pretty much everything.
One odd thing I did find though was the fact that the vibrate function crashed some of my games. Don't know why and didn't really look into it. Just turned it off as I don't need it anyway.

Agree with the above, xbox360/one controller is the cheapest way.
I tried one of these and it was terrible, felt horrid and the auto-shut off just refused to turn off so every 10mins it would turn off even if buttons where pressed.
clicky
I also use a PS4 controller just because I find them more comfortable, d-pad above analogue stick!!!

The Xbox one wireless controllers are expensive. At the prices they're pushing the One S for with a couple of games, it almost makes sense to just buy a console! I'm trying to keep away from buying one though as I've got too much other stuff on at the moment and it'll just distract me! Getting a cheap controller for the odd pc game (probably Fifa or an old Battlefield so that it'll play on my laptop) just to fill a gap when I want it. I was going to buy a cheap xbox wired copy but I've read about driver issues hence looking at the official thing.
