Am I the only one that's not overly excited about the PS4 Pro / Xbox One S / Scorpio?

I've been a gamer for donkeys years (in fact ever since a donkey began throwing barrels down some wonky girders).

I have owned every console since the NES through to the Xbox One / PS4 (and still have most of them today) and I love gaming today as much as I ever have.

But I just cannot get excited about these updated consoles. It's the first time in several decades when I have no desire to buy any of them.

And I can't help feeling that if the Pro and S and Scorpio are intended to co-exist with the PS4 and Xbox then that's bad news for the gamer, because developers will have to spread their limited resources on multiple iterations of the same game, rather than focusing efforts on just one or two.

Am I missing something?

Couldn't see a topic on this already. Apologies if I've missed it.

PCs, PS4s and XBOXs are all basically the same architecture nowadays, not like the PS3 that was completely different. If you develop a game for one platform it isn't a big job to port it to the others.

The S is essentially just the slim version of the One, so any performance increases are so small you're unlikely to spot them with the naked eye. It does get a 4k UHD Blu Ray player built in, which is nice.

The Pro and Scorpio are substantial upgrades in terms of hardware, though the fact that both Microsoft and Sony have stated that all games must run on the older hardware as well means that we're unlikely to see many games make full use of the increased power.

Unless..

They introduce options.

I'm hoping that if i were to plump for a PS4 Pro 2 or whatever they're calling the Scorpio alternative that it will bring in presets for each console. It can't be that hard to implement as nearly every PC game has Low, Med, High, Ultra setting presets already.
