Ps4 game install issue
Discussion
I've had this with two games now.
1st was a second hand copy of Mortal Kombat X. The disc looked clean to me. However... I covered it in fairy liquid concentrate, "smooshed" that about a bit, rinsed it tonnes and then dried it. Problem solved.
2nd... I was playing Dark Souls 2 when my lovely young puppy decided to appear in the toilet as I was enjoying sitting on the throne and bring my favourite game in to me.. somehow he had ejected Dark Souls 2 disc from the Ps4 and brought it through with teeth marks on it. I was distraught as Soul 2 is well 'ard and I was miles through and didn't want to lose my saved game or start again, or buy another copy. Luck had it that even with teeth marks, putting the game disc back in it worked fine. HOWEVER... when I then went to re-install it a few months later from scratch, this same error you have came up and it didn't ever work again. I suggest that when the game is installed already it probably doesn't lean on the part of the disc that was damaged. So I found another second hand copy on e-bay and that installed fine.
You know what to do. Give the disc the best wash possible and try again once completed dry.
Cheers

Cheers for the reply. I will have a go at "washing" the cd later. Bought a couple of the add ons last night as my oldest boy wanted to try out the Automatron robots.
Failing that it's re-buying through gritted teeth! Bought the game at release as well!
If it has to be a re-buy, scour through ebay and set yourself a max price and don't pay than it. So many copies of fallout 4 that u should get a 2nd one for a tenner. Which isn't quite so painful.Failing that it's re-buying through gritted teeth! Bought the game at release as well!
I believe it is the disc or your machines ability to read the disc. I do not think it has anything to do with saved games or other stuff that is on the Hard Disk in the PS4.
If you say your mate can play the disc and in that EXACT same condition you cannot play the disc then it suggests another variable such as your PS4 having an issue reading discs or he isn't actually doing a full install using your disc. If he already has it installed then when he is reading your disc he probably isn't reading the section of the disc that your PS4 is finding a fault with.
Do you have a mate with a copy of fallout 4 you could ask to try their disc? If you were local I would just give you a go at mine.
Cheers - don't give up :-)

He installed it fully on a slimline ps4 which hasn't had fallout 4 on it previously.
Going to trade it in tomorrow now i know it still works (albeit on other peoples ones) and get hold of a brand new copy and see how i get on.
Bit of a bummer but sounds like your best way forward. Going to trade it in tomorrow now i know it still works (albeit on other peoples ones) and get hold of a brand new copy and see how i get on.
Please do reply up after you have done so.
Assume you have deleted the entire game and the saved games, so you really were trying for a fresh install which is directly comparable with him.
Makes me wonder if his new PS4 Slim maybe has a better capability at reading discs and seeing past scratches.
Awaiting an update. Good luck.
