Do what makes you happy. I've been in IT for twenty odd years and still spent the majority of my time gaming, it's what I like to do. I get out into that thing called a real world still, and have other interests, but gaming is still a primary one for me. Even after putting in extra hours at work as a developer, I'm still happy to spend time gaming. It's a completely different mindset and use of technology.

What's the possible damage you're looking to avoid?

I sit in front of a computer all day and also work in IT, I still love gaming though and just see it as another hobby. I suppose my interest in computers and gaming sort of lead me in my career direction in the first place.
I do prefer the simplicity of consoles now though, after messing about with computers all day, I can't be bothered with dealing with Windows and pc hardware issues in my spare time.

And another geek here.
On the screens all day and then I spend some time playing games at night. Or watching TV. Or other activities.
My eyes have always been dodgy (short sighted) I find it harder focusing these days but that's with everything not just screens and I think its because I'm getting old.
