Steering wheels
Discussion
Ive got an urge to get a wheel for my Xbox to hopefully get more out of Project Cars. I dont have much to spend but like the look of the Thrustmaster TX Ferrari wheel. I've been checking ebay but there isn't a lot there. Which wheel would you reccommend (not able to stretch to Fanatecs unfortunately) Does anyone have one they want to sell?
I have the G920 (the Xbox/PC version of the G29, which is the model name for the PS4 wheel) and gearshift and would highly recommend both. I've used it for 7-8000 "miles" in Dirt Rally and a fair amount in Project Cars too. I can't even imagine using a keyboard or joypad with either of those games.
I'm using the Thrustmaster TX Ferrari wheel for my Pc and XB1s driving games.
It's probably the best wheel I've ever had so I think it's worth persevering in trying to find one.
I think Thrustmaster has just released a new version of this wheel so maybe stock of the old one has dried up.

Wrote a blog post about this actually. Covers most of the wheels worth having.

Wheels definitely transform the experience of driving games IMHO. I'm now on my 3rd (remember Colin McRae Rally on PS2 anyone :-)) and have invested in a T300RS for the PS4. I'm still way off "fast" but the immersion into the game compared to the controllers is night and day.
You do need to think what you will attach it to. I had an Ikea Poang chair and lashed up my own Heath Robinson affair which is on design #2 and works fine, so if you don't have the funds to stretch to a racing chair aswell, there are sometimes ways around it !! The wheel will definitely need to be clamped to something. Some of the earlier wheels had "thigh clamp" bits which you just held between your legs. Not recommended with the current batch of wheels unless using as some kind of weird sex toy ;-)
I am currently considering whether to invest in a chair or stand such as the Playseat Challenge mentioned above or the Wheelstand Pro which should work with my Poang chair anyway. If you happen to have a Poang chair I can provide pictures of my "lash up" :-). You'll need some off cuts of wood from shed / garage, some duct tape, some velcro, a stapler and glue LOL.

Would be so much cheaper on a game.
